No One Can Save You is a sci-fi horror thriller that tells the story of Brynn, a young seamstress who resides alone in her childhood home, sheltered from the disdain and rejection of the other inhabitants of her neighborhood. When mysterious noises interrupt her night, Brynn must confront dangerous invaders who seek to disturb the tranquility of her home and put her life at risk. However, the young woman is unaware that something much bigger is happening around her.

Released in September of this year, Nobody Can Save You quickly joined my list of films to watch, thanks to its frequent appearance on "best horror movies of the year" lists I found all over the internet while searching for options to enjoy a good time of scares. Although I didn't have a totally positive experience with it, I can say that it wasn't as bad as many claims, I should also point out that it's not a movie for everyone and that some might consider it boring and pointless. The truth is that this film presents a rather leisurely pace, accompanied by a simple plot that reveals itself gradually.

What really captured my attention in this film was the tension and sense of "disorientation" that is experienced throughout its nearly 88 minutes. It is not simply a typical "home invasion" film. By establishing a relationship of rejection and repudiation between Brynn and the other members of her community, the director creates an atmosphere of isolation that increases the protagonist's vulnerability and amplifies the chances of everything going wrong for her. In addition, he introduces a crucial science fiction element that turns the story on its head, taking it down a different and terrifying path.

When the presence of the invaders is fully revealed, I must admit that I was surprised, not only by their nature, but also by their design, which captivated me by its simplicity, which for many may have been a flaw, but for me was quite effective in causing me terror. Given that the first few minutes of the film have a rather slow pace, the revelation of the invaders greatly improves this aspect by providing us with chases and confrontations between the young girl and her unwanted visitors. Although these moments of action were brief and few and far between, they managed to create an atmosphere of alertness and tension that allowed me to enjoy the film's climax.

Unfortunately, there comes a point in the film where I feel that the direction of where the plot is going gets a bit lost, and seemingly random things start to happen. Brynn is taken to another location and is forced to confront her past, at which point we are finally revealed the source of her neighbors' rejection. After this, the film comes to an abrupt ending, confusing and completely open to the viewer's interpretation. To be honest, it was a somewhat disappointing and anticlimactic conclusion that left me with a big question mark on my face, wishing the film had lasted a few more minutes to see if it could straighten out its course, which of course it didn't.

All in all, if viewed from a simplistic point of view, it's a film capable of entertaining that aspired to something more, but fell just short of achieving it. Beyond its flaws, it has some strong points, among which I can highlight the good use of sound, especially during the chase and stalking scenes, which favored the tense and stressful atmosphere created by the director in these. On the other hand, we have the performance of Kaitlyn Dever in the role of Brynn. She, practically alone, carries almost the entire weight of the film, offering a decent job in conveying to us her anguish, fear, bewilderment, and despair at being pursued and besieged by her invaders. With virtually no dialogue, the director relies on his acting ability to guide us through the plot.

No One Can Save You is, without a doubt, an interesting production, but unfortunately it did not fully live up to my expectations by not delivering everything I expected from it. Its third act, full of inconsistencies, significantly affects the work done in the first two thirds of the film. Despite this, it manages to deliver enough tense moments to keep us entertained for a while. Taking all this into account, it is definitely not a film I would recommend to everyone, due to its flaws in pacing and denouement, but if you like "home invasion" films, this is definitely a current option, with an intriguing twist that you might enjoy.

Nadie Podrá Salvarte es un thriller de terror y ciencia ficción que relata la historia de Brynn, una joven costurera que reside sola en la casa de su infancia, refugiada del desdén y rechazo de los demás habitantes de su vecindario. Cuando unos ruidos misteriosos interrumpen su noche, Brynn deberá enfrentarse a unos peligrosos invasores que buscan perturbar la tranquilidad de su hogar y ponen en riesgo su vida. Estrenada en septiembre de este año, Nadie Podrá Salvarte se sumó rápidamente a mi lista de películas pendientes, gracias a su frecuente aparición en las listas de "mejores películas de terror del año" que encontré en toda la internet mientras buscaba opciones para disfrutar de un buen rato de sustos. Aunque no tuve una experiencia totalmente positiva con ella, puedo decir que no fue tan mala como muchos afirman, también debo señalar que no es una película para todos y que algunos podrían considerarla aburrida y carente de sentido. Lo cierto es que esta película presenta un ritmo bastante pausado, acompañado de una trama simple que se revela gradualmente.

Lo que realmente capturó mi atención en esta película fue la tensión y la sensación de "desorientación" que se experimenta a lo largo de sus casi 88 minutos. No es simplemente una típica película de "invasión del hogar". Al establecer una relación de rechazo y repudio entre Brynn y los demás miembros de su comunidad, el director crea un ambiente de aislamiento que aumenta la vulnerabilidad de la protagonista y amplifica las posibilidades de que todo salga mal para ella. Además, introduce un elemento crucial de ciencia ficción que da un giro a la historia, llevándola por un camino diferente y aterrador.

Cuando la presencia de los invasores se revela por completo, debo admitir que me sorprendí, no solo por la naturaleza de estos, sino también por su diseño, el cual me cautivó por su simplicidad, lo cual para muchos quizás fue un fallo, pero para mí fue bastante efectivo al momento de causarme terror. Dado que los primeros minutos de la película tienen un ritmo bastante lento, la revelación de los invasores mejora notablemente este aspecto al proporcionarnos persecuciones y enfrentamientos entre la joven y sus indeseadas visitas. Aunque estos momentos de acción fueron breves y contados, lograron crear una atmósfera de alerta y tensión que me permitió disfrutar del clímax de la película.

Lamentablemente, llega un punto en la película en el que siento que se pierde un poco la dirección hacia dónde se dirige la trama, y comienzan a ocurrir cosas aparentemente al azar. Brynn es llevada a otro lugar y se ve obligada a enfrentar su pasado, momento en el cual finalmente se nos revela el origen del rechazo de sus vecinos. Después de esto, la película llega a un final abrupto, confuso y completamente abierto a la interpretación del espectador. Para ser sincera, fue una conclusión algo decepcionante y anticlimática que me dejó con un gran signo de interrogación en la cara, deseando que la película hubiera durado unos minutos más para ver si así podía enderezar su rumbo, algo que, por supuesto, no ocurrió.

A pesar de todo, si se la ve desde un punto de vista simplista, es una película capaz de entretener que aspiraba a algo más, pero que se quedó a un paso de alcanzarlo. Más allá de sus fallos, cuenta con algunos puntos fuertes, entre los cuales puedo destacar el buen uso del sonido, especialmente durante las escenas de persecución y acecho, lo cual favoreció la atmósfera tensa y estresante creada por el director en estas. Por otra parte, tenemos la actuación de Kaitlyn Dever en el papel de Brynn. Ella, prácticamente sola, lleva casi todo el peso de la película, ofreciendo un trabajo decente al transmitirnos su angustia, miedo, desconcierto y desesperación al ser perseguida y asediada por sus invasores. Al carecer prácticamente de diálogos, el director se apoya en su capacidad actoral para guiarnos a través de la trama.

Nadie Podrá Salvarte es, sin duda, una producción interesante, pero que lamentablemente no cumplió totalmente con mis expectativas al no entregar todo lo que esperaba de ella. Su tercer acto, lleno de incoherencias, afecta significativamente el trabajo realizado en los dos primeros tercios de la película. A pesar de esto, logra ofrecer suficientes momentos de tensión para mantenernos entretenidos durante un tiempo. Tomando todo esto en cuenta, definitivamente, no es una película que le recomendaría a cualquiera, debido a sus fallos en el ritmo y en el desenlace, pero si les gustan las películas de "invasión del hogar", esta es sin duda una opción actual, con un giro interesante que quizás puedan llegar a disfrutar.
