The Astros and Phillies had to go into extras yesterday after Ronel Blanco and Zack Wheeler both pitched very well, both allowing only two runs. The Phillies are looking better recently, these type of wins mean a lot in so many ways. Good teams win these tight contests! Not much else to report on, Brandon Marsh and Bryson Stott continue to swing better bats which is great to see.
Today is going to be another great game, hopefully in the Phillies favor. I don't expect a lot of runs to cross the plate today as Aaron Nola competes against the highly decorated, future Hall of Famer Justin Verlander.
Talk about a time capsule in an athlete. A serious nostalgia bomb. I have watched Verlander pitch for literally twenty freaking years now. I stopped watching baseball closely for a number of years, and this guy is still here! That fact itself is greatness, let alone everything else the man has accomplished, which is basically everything except his enshrinement into Cooperstown.
Verlander made his MLB debut on Independence Day of 2005. Can't get much more American than that! The number one movie at the box office in the U.S. was War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise!
Wow, this fact blows my mind. Verlander is a beast.

Today will definitely be special for that reason. Only so many times Verlander will pitch at 41 years old. I don't care if Verlander pitches well, he likely will. As long as Nola pitches just a little better and the Phils win, that will be fine.
It's been warmer in the Philadelphia area today, but only slightly so. Will be mid-high 80's, but could definitely be a bit lower thanks to playing in the evening.
GO PHILS
Finally a pro!
