"Halo" (Season 2, Episode 6) by Otto Bathurst - Training Spartan III's
Greetings!
The previous episode showed the fall of Reach while John-117 and company did their best to defend civilians to flee. The son of Soren was taken by the UNSC. John vowed to avenge Vannak and Kwan Ha has having vision about her part in the series. Ackerson has fielded a battalion of Spartan III's that is going to be trained by Kai herself.
This episode incorporates a lot, like the quest of Soren to find his son, Kwan Ha to find answers to her vision, Halsey and her daughter meet again in an underground laboratory where her daughter is researching an alien technology.
Spartan IIIs
I liked it when this episode showed the training exercises of Spartan IIIs. But to be honest I am expecting Spartan IIIs to be badasses but it is not the case on this episode. Spartan IIIs in this episode seem to be not Spartans at all because they were not near Spartans in terms of skills and strength. It is known in the game that Ackerson wants to one-up Dr. Halsey so I am expecting that when he finally gets the chance to surpass Dr. Halsey he is going to be training badass Spartan IIIs but it is not the case here.
What I don't like about this episode is the treatment of John-117. The UNSC, by the manipulation of Ackerson under the command of Parangosky, was able to portray John-117 as psychotic and dangerous. This kind of politics is sickening to me. Although this is only a TV series I knew that it is happening in real life.
Just like in the PC game which the Arbiter defies the authorities in this episode it finally comes where he (the Arbiter) chooses to side with The Chosen One, Makee.
Cortana helping Master Chief
In this episode, Cortana helps John to find his way by unlocking doors for him. What caught my attention was when John asked Cortana how she unlocks doors. I thought John was well aware that Cortana is an AI that can integrate itself into any system that she came across. It doesn't make sense because I am well aware that John knew what an AI is.
Conclusion
All in all, this episode is very important because it has all that I am looking for in an episode like the Arbiter finally showing his defiance and Ackerson is finally shown that he is directly reporting to Parangosky. Although this episode still has a lot of disgusting politics it got a lot of interesting scenes that will surely make you excited for episode 7.
That is all for now guys, catch you up with the next one. Wishing you all safety, good health, and abundance.
