"Jurrasic Park" by Steven Spielberg: The Movie that Started it All
Greetings!
The Jurassic film franchise has been one of the most successful film franchises of all time. Today, if you are in your 20s it would be possible that you haven't seen the film that started it all. The film is of course "Jurassic Park", it is the first film of the franchise, the one that started it all and it was released in 1993.
The narrative of Jurassic Park is about the misadventure and near-death experience of Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), Tim Murphy (Joseph Mazzello), Lex Murphy (Ariana Richards) inside Jurassic Park put up by Dr. John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) in an isolated island called Isla Nublar.
Re-watching the movie
It has been 30 years since I first watched Jurassic Park in a cinema near my school. It was the most popular movie at the time and the talk of the town (in my town). I am glad that I got to watch it back then. I can't remember how many times I already watched this movie and I am re-watching it again for this review.
First scene
When I first watched this movie I could feel the intensity of the scene because it was my first time seeing such a movie. To be honest, I was scared back then because I was only in elementary that time. The death of one of the staff of the park set the tone (for me) and from then I have been very anxious about what comes next. And today, I can still the scene's intensity but I am not scared anymore since I am now a family man.
How the dinosaurs came to life (in the film)
In the film, the idea of cloning the dinosaurs back to life is brilliant. The dinosaur DNA was collected from a mosquito preserve in an amber. It was not just simple cloning but scientists hired by Dr. John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) were able to complete the genome of the dinosaur by using a frog's genome. One of the scientists said that they manipulated each genome of the dinosaur inside Jurassic Park, in short, they made all of the dinosaur to be female. But they seem to forget that some frogs can change sex and that's how some of the dinosaurs started to breed.
The iconic logo
One of the things that made a long-lasting mark on me when I first saw it is the iconic Jurassic Park logo and the Jeep. The logo is a classic, it is so iconic and classic that all of the sequel films used it.
An iconic scene
Aside from the iconic logo and the iconic Jeep the bears the logo. There is also an iconic scene in the film. the scene is the brief scene of a Jeep 18, it is so iconic because it shows almost the whole Jeep while Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern, Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) are in it.
A shock
The first shocking experience of the cast came when they saw a huge dinosaur roaming just next to them what's the best way to portray a shocking than shocked reaction just like Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) did? I think her reaction (or acting) to a shocked individual is very very genuine.
Hatching
I like the scene showing the hatching of a dinosaur egg. Of course, the scene added greatness to the script of the film which is of course already great in its first scenes.
Iconic entrance
Jurassic Park has a lot of iconic things to offer. Another one is the iconic entrance to Jurassic Park. The entrance depicts a huge door which is the official entrance of the park.
I like the appearance of the entrance it perfectly depicts the entrance of a park.
Iconic Ford Explorer
Another one that draws my attention to this film is another vehicle. The vehicle is painted yellow and green also sporting the Jurassic Park logo. This vehicle and the Jeep are two of the most recognizable parts of the film.
The beginning of thrilling scenes
The start of intense scenes came when the group of Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), Tim Murphy (Joseph Mazzello), Lex Murphy (Ariana Richards) came face to face with a ferocious T-Rex when it is raining.
I like the first encounter scene because it is very intense and the T-Rex looks very real and the movement seems very real too. I can still remember that the first encounter put me on the edge of my seat.
Conclusion
If you already watched the other Jurassic Park movies I recommend that you also see this movie if you haven't already. To be honest this first film is my most favorite.
All in all, this film is the best of all the Jurassic Park movies. The plot, the script, the thrill, and the excitement all came into place and solidified Jurassic Park as the pinnacle of all the dinosaur movies. This movie will take you to the edge of your seat. The scene transition in this film is great as it will never get you bored while watching.
