"Miss Congeniality" by Donald Petrie - A Hilarious Crime, Comedy, and Action Movie with a Twist
Greetings!
Sandra Bullock is one of my favorite actresses. If I remember it right I came to know Sandra Bullock on the movie Speed which she co-stars with Keanu Reeves. Of all the movies by Sandra Bullock "Miss Congeniality" is the one that stands out for me. Of course, this is not to take away from the other great movies of Sandra. I like the combination of Action, Comedy, and Crime in one film and Miss Congeniality fits the bill.
The narrative of Miss Congeniality is about the blowing up of a crown that is going to be worn by the eventual winner of Miss United States. The FBI, where Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) is a federal agent learned that "the citizen" is planning an attack on the eve of the Miss United States pageant. In response, the FBI formed a team to stop the plan of "the citizen".
I like it when the movie shows the young version of the character of Sandra Bullock and then transitions to the present where Sandra Bullock is now a federal agent doing some undercover surveillance inside a restaurant to capture a Russian suspect.
One of the scenes that I love about this movie is when the character of Sandra Bullock (Gracie Hart) barges through a group of people seemingly at something but it turns out that they are inside Starbucks and they are buying coffee. All the people inside were helpless when Sandra Bullock (Gracie Heart) began ordering coffee for her colleagues. Not only that, but on her way to Starbucks she used her car's siren so that she could go as fast as she can to Starbucks.
Another scene that I also like in this movie is when some agents begin to search for a candidate who will pose as a contestant for the pageant in order for them to get first-hand information about the pageant in order to stop "the citizen" from harming the contestants of Miss United States pageant.
Another scene that I like in this movie is when the character of Sandra Bullock (Gracie Heart) comes out of the hangar to the amazement of her fellow federal agents and one of the agents can't believe her transformation.
Miss Congeniality is not just another typical crime movie since there is a twist in its plot which I liked very much. Instead of just going straight to the narrative about a suspect until the end movie a twist is included.
Not guessing what will happen next in the movie that I am watching is one of the aspects of watching movies that I like. Not only that it make the story interesting it can keep you on the edge of your seat since you were not able to guess what will happen next.
I like it when there is almost no drama in the entirety of the movie which Miss Congeniality successfully delivers.
The movie was also able to capture some ins and outs of being a federal agent when it comes to their surveillance capability and how the handle their duties and the sake of the safety of a nation
I also like that the movie game the character of Sandra Bullock with a unique talent that she performs during the duration of the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant. Instead of just going for frequently seen talent the movie instead opted for a glass tune talent which actually surprised me and I was not able to predict what would be her talent for the competition.
In between, the movie did a great job in scene transition since I was not bored watching it and it kept me a little bit on the edge of my seat.
Sandra's supporting actors have also done a great job especially Michael Cane and Benjamin Bratt. The two have successfully complimented the character of Sandra Bullock. With all the acting and the actors doing a great job, it is no wonder why this movie has a sequel.
All in all, Miss Congeniality is a must-watch movie. I bet that even if you are not into comedy, action, and crime genres I think you are going to love it since it was a very good movie to begin with.
I thought that when the mastermind was caught the end had finally ended. But there is one last surprise. At the end of the movie, the character of Sandra Bullock (Gracie Hart) was awarded the Miss Congeniality.

I like Sandra's aura too. Her character in a movie is always this strong independent woman and I like it. I think I watched this movie beforr. But her movie "The Proposal" is the most memorable for me.
