The 1990s is filled with great movies in every genre possible. I for one love every genre and one of the movies that stands out to me in the 1990s is "Pretty Woman" starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Pretty Woman is a romantic comedy by Gary Marshall that captivated the hearts of many including me.

The narrative of the movie is about a billionaire (Richard Gere) that met a hooker (Julia Roberts) by chance and then eventually fell in love with each other because of the time that they spent together (which is roughly one week). In that week the two got to know each other while living together in the hotel room of Edward.

I love the upbeat music background in the movie's early part while Richard Gere drives in a sports car owned by his friend. We all know that music plays a huge part in making a movie great and the Pretty Woman did just that and they nailed it exactly to my taste, needless to say, the background music is amazing.

Juliar Roberts' character surprises me that she knew about cars and she knew how to drive as well which I liked because they didn't just throw in the character of Julia Roberts but they added some substance to the character which I have rarely seen in similar movies that I have seen up to now.

And the scene that made me smile is pretty quick, it is an elevator scene where Julia Roberts acted like a hooker and then some people refused to ride the elevator with her. The acting of Julia Roberts made me smile in this particular scene because she nailed it on how a hooker would behave (on some occasions).

Still in the early part of the movie Richard Gere's character made me think that he is a man who wants to help. He perfectly shows that character when she asks Julia to be with him for a week. The two haggled for the price and they eventually agreed on $3000 for a week of stay with him.

Another thing that I like in this movie is that it shows the harsh reality of looking down on someone's appearance when she is forced to leave a fashion store because they think that they don't have something to offer her. In reality, they are just judgemental of how she looks.

One of the things that this movie taught me is how antagonizing parties dine with each other to discuss very sensitive matter but still acts very civil even if the words being used are very strong and make you stressed and uncomfortable. It also taught me that one should not be "emotionally involved" in the business process of attaining a goal (much like how the character of Richard Gere is shown in this movie).

Both the characters of Julia and Richard are very likable. But I did not expect that his character would have a kinky side when he and Julia made love while Julia was on top of a grand piano.

I also like the fact that the plot of the movie did not make me very stressed. I did correctly guess some of the plot holes but still surprises me on the turn of events near the end of the movie even though the ending can be easily predicted. The manner in which that ending would unfold is the one that I was not able to predict.

The movie made me guess how the ending would be. And you guessed it, I was not able to predict how it is exactly going to unfold.

All in all the movie is great and the plot is very good in keeping me thinking once in a while about what would happen next time. I can say that this movie is one of the greatest. The story is very light which does not make you stressed. The plot can be predicted at times but it will keep you guessing while watching.

I recommend this movie to everyone who wants to watch what a romance comedy looks like in the 1990s. It is a great movie in which you will learn a lot of things that you can apply in real life. It shows that whatever you may be now in your life there is always a chance to be better and the movie just showed like that.
