Dark Water is a 2005 psychological horror film directed by Walter Salles and starring Jennifer Connelly This film combines horror and suspense and is based on a Japanese film of the same name based on a short story by Koji Suzuki.

The Story

The story revolves around Dalia a divorced mother who takes her young daughter Cecilia and moves to a new apartment in an old building Dalia quickly begins to notice strange things in the apartment black water leaking from the ceiling strange noises and unexplained phenomena Dalia tries to understand what is happening and finds herself involved in the mysterious past of the building and the apartment in which she lives

Jennifer Connellys performance played the role of Dalia in an influential and convincing way and she was able to convey the feeling of fear and anxiety experienced by a mother who is trying to protect her daughter.

General atmosphere The film succeeded in creating a terrifying atmosphere through the use of dark lighting frightening sounds and scenes that make one feel uneasy.

The story itself is interesting and full of mystery and leaves the viewer wanting to know what will happen next.

The Bad in the movie

The slow pace as some scenes were very slow may make some viewers feel bored at times.

There is no actual horror as the film relies more on psychological horror and tension so there are not many horror scenes that really frighten or make someone jump from their place.

The ending is that some people may find that the ending is not satisfactory enough and does not solve all the mysteries that the film presented.

Dark Water is a psychological horror film that mixes mystery and tension and Jennifer Connellys performance was one of its most prominent strengths If you like movies that rely on terrifying atmospheres and exciting stories more than bloody horror and surprises you will find this movie worth watching But if you are looking for a movie that has more horror and more action you may feel that the movie is a little slow and does not have the excitement that you are looking for.
