The Umbrella Academy season that disappointed many people
Hoy quiero hablar de The Umbrela Academy, una serie muy buena con un final que no estuvo bien ejecutado.
One of my favorite hobbies is watching series and movies, although it is not something that I share much here unless it is a series/movie that I really like a lot or that I HATE too much, today is the last case, The umbrella academy is a series that I started to watch when the third season was just coming out, I didn't know of its existence until then and I started to watch it without really expecting anything impressive, I expected to see more of the same, but definitely not, the first and second season were a jewel, magnificent and interesting, where we could know the academy and its members where each one had a totally defined personality and they were great, the third season I also liked although a little less than the previous ones, however, that third season left us with many doubts and unknowns that we intended to clarify with the fourth and final season, which did not happen.
Today I want to talk about The Umbrella Academy, a very good series with an ending that was not well executed.
More than describing the complete story of this series, I want to complain, I really want to complain because I was waiting a lot for this season and it was not good at all, maybe some people liked it but honestly I hated it too much, before starting to watch it I found it strange that there were only 6 chapters, I was wondering from the first chapter how the hell was going to develop all the plot and doubts that were pending in only 6 chapters and indeed, that did not happen.
Let's start with my biggest cinematic trauma: Lila and Five together, from the second I saw them together at the meeting of “the keepers” I knew something was going to happen between these two, I thought I was just exaggerating but later I realized I was right.
This is very wrong, not only because she is his brother's wife but also because he is an old man trapped in a young man's body, I don't know, although Five already looks old and the actor is really over 20 years old it looked very strange, I feel that the relationship was extremely forced and in such a short time (for us) we did not connect with that “love” although it is a situation that if you think about it in real life is understandable since being many years together trapped in the train is difficult to digest in just minutes of series.
Five was my favorite character, but I feel that they completely ruined his essence, I felt that I was seeing another totally different character, in other seasons you could notice that personality of an old man trapped in the body of a child, besides being very cunning and quite intelligent, in this season I never perceived even a hint of that Five we knew in other seasons, now he literally acted like a teenager and besides the fact that he worked for the CIA and never realized that they belonged to “the keepers” I think Five we know would have discovered this a long time ago.
The story that didn't add anything to the plot of the series but they wanted to put it to fill those miserable 6 chapters they gave us, I guess it was just to give a little humor, but was this really necessary?
Klaus kidnapped by a guy who wants to exploit his powers, powers that are now stronger thanks to the marigold he had to take when he was about to die, so… why he never used his powers to get rid of his kidnapper?
Why did I feel that Klaus was just another extra in another series?
Why was Allison so unbearable this season?
I literally could not watch Allison's face she looked super over acted and very immature for everything she has been through in previous seasons.
By the way, I never felt empathy for this mother and daughter relationship that lasted maximum 5 minutes of series between 6 chapters, the same thing happens to me with Lyla's family and her daughters.
Cosas que nunca entendí
Things I never understood
I didn't understand that obsessive attraction between BEN and Jeniffer, the Ben who met Jeniffer was supposed to be the other Ben, the original Ben, I also didn't understand why Jeniffer came out of a giant Squid, they never explain the origin of that Squid, why she was there.
What is the origin of this subway that had never appeared before, how does it work, how are the “codes” used to reach a new timeline, what do the voices inside the train in a strange language mean?
How is it possible that Lyla's family and Allison's daughter got on a train that they do NOT know how to drive and coincidentally took them to the correct timeline, also why do they exist if they have no parents, how are they alive if their parents never existed, isn't that altering the timelines?
From my point of view I feel that was a big mistake, if the umbrellas were going to cease to exist, all traces of them should have ceased to exist, including their family.
Honestly, I don't even want to talk about these two, it doesn't make sense, in the end I don't know if they ceased to exist or if the whole cycle was simply completed again from zero.
Luther became an extremely idiotic character, it seems that his brain had been extracted, he has always been one of the comedy parts of the series but this time his participation was so silly that it didn't even give laughter, the fight in the CIA office with Diego I thought it would be epic, but honestly it looked very fake, the blows were terrible.
The special effects of this season looked terrible, at least that's what I perceived, everything looked extremely fake and that makes you lose a bit of the story, you don't believe what you see because you are seeing a CGI too ugly, not to mention that in some scenes if you pause carefully you can see the face of the stuntmen LOL!!
Supuestamente estos son Diego y Five.
These are supposedly Diego and Five.
The only scene I liked this season when many Fives are gathered on a train timeline.
It was really hard to watch and finish this season, I have much more to say but it is complicated to write everything with a mind not so fresh since I saw this series about a week ago, in the end everyone sacrifices themselves so that the world stops having an apocalypse and just keep a timeline, we can see in these last minutes of the end of the series a park with all the characters that appeared in different seasons (looking to generate nostalgia in the public by placing characters that never appeared in this season except for these last seconds) leading a completely normal life, we see the children of Lyla and Allison living as if nothing in a timeline to which they do not belong and never should have existed, without parents and without knowing their origin, I also wonder what happened to the other children who had the marigold ... as far as I know there were many more than just our protagonists.
And after the sacrifice these flowers that symbolize each of our protagonists are born, many plot holes, few chapters, unnecessary scenes, few action scenes, all with new powers and we only see them using it 3 times maximum, this ending would not have been so bad if it had been executed in a better way, they really did what they wanted and I was not satisfied with the ending and I was not sad to see them sacrifice because I came to hate them all in this season.
I was waiting in every chapter for an answer to everything and I was saying in my mind: for sure in the next chapter they will explain... and so on until chapter 6 and nothing happened.
Anyway that's my opinion about this tragic end of a series that had a great potential, like many comments I've read on the internet, I will pretend insanity and think that this season 4 never existed.
GUao!!!
I didn't even continue after the 1st season, felt lost :(
Believe me, it's better that you haven't seen it anymore. 😅
No regrate then 😁
While I never really watched a great deal of this series it was because it failed to captivate me. I felt as though they had a series and then were trying to stretch out something that could have been done in 4 episodes quite nicely, across 10 episodes and what we ended up with was a ton of filler. Maybe I missed out on a gem but I think it is really important to rope in viewers with the beginning and they simply failed at doing that for me.
I understand, and yes, there is a lot of filler in some parts of the series, especially in this last season, it's better that you haven't seen the whole thing, you really don't miss much 😅
