I love it when a horror film can give me the chills or make me squirm in my seat. and The Bridge Curse does just that. So the storyline goes like this. Every four years on a college campus, students take part in a dare test where they challenge an urban legend to cross a bridge at midnight where a young woman had once taken her life.

This had a pretty rough start at the beginning of the movie. It was about 15 minutes in and I was really beginning to question if I should continue watching or if I should abandon it and choose something else. I'm glad I stuck it out though.

This is a fun horror that could have a little bit of supernatural ties to it. The characters range from dumb to confident to that ditzy kind of popular, and then even to the frail and weak. One character in particular was the epitome of annoying.

There were multiple times where I was hoping that something bad was going to happen to that character so that they would be off the screen. As is the case with some horrors, there are terrible decisions being made by characters. Like, there's something very scary and weird going on in the bathroom. But instead of leaving, they go on and investigate. That is clearly not the right choice.

I love the subtle visuals that this film uses to create fright. Sometimes it's a shadow. Sometimes it's a little glimpse. Sometimes it's just a sound. And all of that works together to just send some chills down you. And I gotta say, more than a couple of times, I got goosebumps because what I was seeing just gave me the chills.

I'm thankful that there's not really any jump scares, at least in the literal sense of things jumping out at the screen at you to create some kind of reaction. There's ominous music. There's dark sounds and creeps and just creaks and weird imagery going on. And so as you're sucked into it and then you see something which made me jump. But at least you don't have the crap jumping out of dark corners constantly because I just hate that type of cheap horror.

Kudos to the filmmakers for making an effective environment in which I could be sucked in so that I could really get some good chills. And then they can use some jacked up visuals to really suck me in even more and just make me go, "no, no, no!"

There's also a little bit of mystery to this. And at first I was questioning why it was there. It just seemed to not fit like it was just kind of an afterthought or this weird sideshoot of a story that wasn't really connecting. Or I guess it was connecting, but it didn't seem like it was necessary. But by the end, I appreciated what it was building and I'm glad that it was there.

There is some cheese to this film and some of the points are obvious. But overall, it's a really decent thriller and horror. It freaked me out at the appropriate times. And it engaged me and just really drew my attention in.

Everything was just right there. I had a lot of fun with this. I hope you will, too. I give The Bridge Curse four out of five stars. So any latest 2025 movies you guys may have seen lately? I'm up for recommendations!.

Thanks for your time!
