Ciudad de mentiras | Review y Opinión [ESP-ENG]
La cinematografía, Ciudad de mentiras, se estrenó en el 2018 por el director Brad Furman, responsable de armonizar artísticamente el montaje para catapultar al estrellato, pero a pesar del reparto actoral no logra la magnitud del sentido final; además decido ver la proyección porque Furman dirigió El infiltrado, una película que me gustó. Ciudad de mentiras narra el proceso de investigación de los asesinatos de los raperos famosos Tupac Shakur en 1996 y El Notorious B.I.G. en 1997, desastre que fue concebido en un mar de intrigas. En la cinta el espectador tiene la acción de unir las piezas del crimen que el detective y el periodista desarrollan a través de diálogos retóricos, reflexivos y de cuestionamientos a partir de la compilación de pruebas que nadan en un mar turbio. Averiguar la verdad es un trabajo que lleva tiempo, la misma se pasea en diferentes hitos y personajes que impiden el avance para crear la historia real y negar la instaurada.
Today I decided to state that the selected film had the effect of entertainment since the interest was focused on the topic administered in hours, not perceived in spite of the order of the sequences, which, I felt, loaded with rushed information. This is probably the reason why the film The City of Lies has little valuation or acceptance from the public. However, the genres of drama, thriller and fact-based topics invited me to settle comfortably into visual entertainment.
The cinematography, The City of Lies, was released in 2018 by director Brad Furman, responsible for artistically harmonizing the montage to catapult to stardom, but despite the acting cast, it does not achieve the magnitude of the final sense. I also decided to see the screening because Furman directed The Infiltrator, a film I liked. The City of Lies narrates the investigation process of the murders of the famous rappers Tupac Shakur in 1996 and The Notorious B.I.G. in 1997, a disaster that was conceived in a sea of intrigue. In the film, the viewer has the action of putting together the pieces of the crime that the detective and the journalist develop through rhetorical, reflective and questioning dialogues based on the compilation of evidence that swims in a murky sea. Finding out the truth is a work that takes time; the same one wanders through different milestones and characters that impede the advance to create the real story and deny the established one.
La película empieza a contextualizar de inmediato a través del clip de imágenes que pasan la noticia del suceso. Me gusta porque la historia desea romper con lo establecido y empieza la trama; aunado a esto, la discriminación y la corrupción son ideas consensuadas. Entonces, los flashes del pasado son las herramientas retóricas que chocan con detalles no develados para resolver la investigación. Hay un lazo que se construye en la investigación, un periodista que remota los hechos y descubre la teoría inválida y un detective honesto atrapado en el tiempo por demostrar la verdad, esto es realmente me encantó, la combinación de estos personajes que danzan en un mar de mentiras y llegan a dudar entre sí.
La verdad está oculta y que mejor sea compartida con una música adaptada a los hechos de una discográfica rapera que sirve de comunicación entre estrellas y extorsión. Una música explosiva para enviar mensajes relevantes a las bandas o melodía de suspenso que condiciona al espectador y por último suave para hacer connotación a realidades familiares o de amistades; así como también efectos de sonido: autos, disparos, sirenas y otros ruidos que dan el sello de thriller de crisis de una ciudad. Por otra parte, las tomas visuales son realmente rápidas, que llevan demasiada información alterna que en el espectador puede crear confusión; en virtud a esto, mantener la concentración para atar ideas sueltas y no pasear por laberintos; y por último el vestuario y las joyas se adapta al año; se puede observar marcas, aspectos poco perceptibles, no obstante, las tomas de los personajes centrales cerca del rostro se evidencia la distinción.
The film begins to contextualize immediately through the clip of images that pass the news of the event. I like it because the story wants to break with the established and the plot begins; added to this, discrimination and corruption are consensual ideas. Then, the flashes of the past are the rhetorical tools that collide with undisclosed details to solve the investigation. There is a bond that is built in the investigation, a journalist who remotes the facts and discovers the invalid theory and an honest detective trapped in time to prove the truth, this is what I really loved, the combination of these characters that dance in a sea of lies and come to doubt each other.
The truth is hidden and better to be shared with a music adapted to the facts of a rap record label that serves as communication between stars and extortion. Explosive music to send relevant messages to the gangs or suspenseful melody that conditions the viewer and finally soft to make connotation to familiar realities or friendships; as well as sound effects: cars, gunshots, sirens and other noises that give the stamp of a city crisis thriller. On the other hand, the visual shots are really fast, which carry too much alternate information that in the viewer can create confusion; by virtue of this, keep concentration to tie loose ideas and not wander through labyrinths; and finally, the costumes and jewelry suits the year; you can see marks and little perceptible aspects; however, the shots of the central characters near the face are evident distinction.
¿Por qué debo ver Ciudad de mentiras? Es una proyección basada en la novela que narra la historia de dos sujetos importantes del rap, por tal razón, observar el punto de vista de cómo surgieron posiblemente el asesinato, merece la oportunidad. Además, la credibilidad de la policía y la política en medio de ambiente donde el racismo, la codicia, el poder y las drogas hacen una combinación fuerte para la trama. Me encantó, el dúo de los protagonistas y las actuaciones de dos caracteres se reconozcan para dar con la solución y dejar atrás las sorpresas de tantas mentiras. Asimismo, el juramento de respeto a la profesión se marchita en una ciudad corrompida. El concepto del título es evidente no solo en el afiche sino en los colores de la cinta que forman parte de la red de mentiras y el final provoca sentimientos de rabia y tristeza sobre la muerte.
There are two performances that achieve empathy. We have Johnny Depp, starring as detective Russell Poole, responsible for dealing with their own values in a twisted world where the laws are for some or for those who are no longer needed, so getting to the truth is difficult to find, so the investigation is weakened by the "honor" police and political product. The detective is calm and analytical, but the environment fosters deception; he is powerless to conclude, and his family is broken. Then we have Forest Whitaker, who plays the role of Jack Jackson, a journalist who takes up a publication with meritorious results, which are pure lies; he has an uneasy behavior that forces him to contact the detective and start again; dialogues are built with confusing ideas that they want to analyze to know who to distrust. The friendship achieved configures emotional images, and discovering the life behind the other fosters sensitivity.
Why should I see City of Lies? It is a screening based on the novel that tells the story of two important subjects of rap; for that reason, watching from the point of view of how they possibly came to be murdered, deserves the opportunity. Also, the credibility of the police and politics in the midst of an environment where racism, greed, power and drugs make a strong combination for the plot. I loved the duo of the protagonists and the performances of two characters who recognize each other to find the solution and leave behind the surprises of so many lies. Likewise, the oath of respect for the profession withers in a corrupt city. The concept of the title is evident not only in the poster but also in the colors of the film, which are part of the web of lies, and the ending provokes feelings of rage and sadness about death.

Perdona el retraso en responder. Tuve problemas de salud familiar y me distancie de la plataforma. La película no es para todos y explico el porqué, pero en mi caso logró el efecto de entretener y compartir información de un hecho real.
