Double Blink (2024)

Double Blink, directed by Zoë Kravitz, casts us in the role of a young waitress (Naomi Ackie) who crashes the party of a wealthy tycoon (Channing Tatum) in a dramatic intrusion with a colleague (Alia Shawkat). so to speak.
He is captivated by her and invites them both to his island, where they discover a dreamy place that has everything they need to have a good time and not worry about anything but drinking, laughing and smoking.
Time was not a problem and there they met other girls (Adria Arjona) and established some relationships.
However, after a few days, the young woman realized that something was wrong because the same story kept repeating itself and she had difficulty remembering what happened that night after dinner.
This will allow her to find evidence of what is happening on this island and what is going on around this rich man.

The truth is that this premise is gripping and hypnotic. It is an original film that, morally, can be difficult in the final moments, when all is revealed and you realize that the rich can do whatever they want.
The hairs on the back of your neck stand on end at the thought that many women could find themselves in the same situation as the film's protagonists, because when memories are retrieved, flashes of the past, to put it mildly, are very difficult.
Naomi Ackie's performance is top notch and Channing Tatum has stepped up to the plate, as has the guy from “The Sixth Sense” who is having a blast.
Finally the movie ends, everything is wrapped up and makes sense. At this point, you go back and start to understand a lot of things from the beginning.
It's also feminist, which is always interesting because the main characters are not beautiful ladies waiting to be rescued.
All in all, BLINK TWICE is a good movie. Great debut from Zoë Kravitz, director of a film with a lot to say and a lot to think about. It's powerful, hypnotic and doesn't allow the viewer to relax because, like its main character, she knows very well that something is wrong on this island. I highly recommend it.
