Directed by Jake Kasdan, Red One aims to revive Christmas movies, mixing fantasy, action and humour.
The film takes us to the North Pole, where Father Christmas is kidnapped, triggering a rescue mission led by Santa's head of security, played by Dwayne Johnson.
This tough and ruthless character must join forces with the world's most notorious bounty hunter, played by Chris Evans, to foil the plan and bring Christmas back to children everywhere.

Although the premise of Red One promises laughs and excitement in the best Christmas blockbuster style, Red One struggles to balance action and comedy, and ultimately fails halfway through.
While the film attempts to create large-scale moments with well-choreographed chases and fights, they feel disconnected from the warm and cosy tone that often accompanies a Christmas story.
While Kasdan excels at directing action scenes, the sequences here seem designed to entertain rather than advance the plot, diluting the central focus and festive nature of the film.
From a technical perspective, the action scenes and special effects in Red One are well done, especially in the use of colourful Christmas scenes and festive detail.
However, these visual elements cannot compensate for the lack of narrative cohesion. While the cinematography captures the intensity of the fight and chase scenes, the production design is overdone, adding details to the environments that overwhelm rather than enrich them.
Furthermore, the film's soundtrack, while including some Christmas classics, lacks innovation and ultimately gets lost in the raucous action, depriving the film of the emotional touch that could have enhanced the Christmas spirit.
It is an interesting effort to reimagine Christmas cinema through the lens of action and comedy, Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans achieve entertaining moments, the lack of chemistry between the leads and a scattered narrative prevent the film from having the desired impact.
