Ponyo

Hello everyone, today I am going to review another anime movie which I think you guys would love to know about. I am talking about the animated movie called Ponyo.

The son of a sailor who is 5 years old his name is Sosuke, he lives a peaceful life on an oceanside with his mom name is Lisa. One day, he found a beautiful goldfish and she was trapped in a bottle on the beach. Later on he ended up rescuing her and he named her Ponyo. But she is not an ordinary she is the daughter of a wizard and a sea goddess. Ponyo uses the magic of her father and turns herself into a young girl and also fell in love with Sosuke. This use of such powerful magic caused an imbalance around the world.

As the way moon moves constantly nearer to the earth and Ponyo's father sends the ocean's waves to find where she is. Sosuke and Ponyo goes abroad on an adventure to save the world and fulfill Ponyo's wish to become a human.

When I saw the trailer first I got fascinated by the animation and art style, it looked pretty unique and beautiful in my eyes. The story telling and the feeling of watching a high quality Japanese animation movie is amazing. Ponyo is a crowd pleaser, the trailer featured song is quietly hypnotic, I didn't have to wait for an invite to make sure I watch this movie because of the sneak preview of the movie.

Ponyo is a magic goldfish that has the desire to know what is life beyond the sea. Ponyo strikes in a bubble to the surface of the water for a sneak peek. Her father Fujimoto bears some hatred toward the human race for creating pollution under the water. Coincidentally one day Ponyo was being washed on the shore and Sosuke picked her up in the right moment. Sosuke lives on a house on the cliff with his mother Lisa and his father Koichi is a sailor and mostly stays out to sea.

The artwork of Ponyo is simply amazing even though it is in the 2D, I know that each cell is painstakingly worked on. Many things are going on at the exact time in the same frame, that you might have to repeat to spot them all. This has obviously beaten any 3D or CG animated production. The beauty has come from it’s simplicity on it’s story. This is a movie with positive emotions and vibes which is suitable for kids and adults.

It’s the love that is between the family of Lisa, Koichi and Sosuke. Specially the love is seen between son & mother. Moreover, it's about the love between the boy and Ponyo. Sosuke thinks of her as his new pet fish and named her Ponyo.

Ponyo Characterisation is top notch, and it's was not hard to fall in love with her cuteness, she’s playful being and does not hide the emotions inside of her, like if she is being sad with you then she turns away.

The way Sosuke takes responsibility of Ponyo and looks after her when she is a little fish is really adorable there are many cute moments in this movie. I love both Ponyo and Sosuke’s family. The way Ponyo screams ham is also funny. There are plenty of amusing and nostalgic moments that can just make you feel relaxed. To be honest anyone can just sit down and watch this movie to feel chilled out because there are many breathtaking shots in the movie.

One thing that the movie does not exactly explain or say that it's not about the love Sosuke feels for a loving pet. It's kind of up to your interpretation. Anyways, if kids would watch then they would think of it and see it this way. This movie has touched the beauty in different kinds of love. There is seen the love between friendship, parental love and community love. I know that Sosuke is only 5 years old, both Sosuke and Ponyo has love for each other and love does not have to be romantic because it can be magical & pure.

Overall

This movie makes my happy tears come out every time I watch it. The movie is filled with adventure, nostalgic, beauty, magic. The characters in the story are very inspiring, clever, fearless, kind & authentic. I loved this animated movie very much and I hope you guys will love it as much as I did.
