Mother Cabrini: The Immigrants' Saint [Movie Review]

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

This is actually the first time that I have heard of her name since she isn't that famous among the Saints of the Catholic. The film was introduced to us as a requirement for one our school subject about the Contemporary World, which we have to watch this film in the cinema. Since it is supposedly related to our subject, it was expected to portray globalization or a worldwide movement of influence from one point to another. Upon seeing the movie title, I didn't expect it to be based from a true life story of a saint. I thought it was about a woman from who was struggling to fight what she wants to be in her life. Anyway, in a way, it was somewhat true.

The movie talks about the life and mission of a nun named Francesca Cabrini from Italy. She was a woman with talent, dedication, sympathy and kindness towards the immigrants. In her time, discrimination among genders and status evidently hindered her good deeds. She fought for their rights until her last strength and believes that she should reclaim the dignity of her people.

"Men could never do what we do," that's what Mother Cabrini have replied when she was complimented of her intelligence as a woman. Her mission wasn't limited to only helping the orphans of the immigrants on the West but it spreads by helping the poor at Five Points until she successfully established a hospital for the all the immigrants in New York which and can also offer top notch services for the local citizens.

In my opinion, each genders have intelligence and strengths of their own. It only takes a determined and kind heart to start the mission —one's that would never waver to withstand each waves, storms and fires. If there's a mission at will, then it should be started at once and will continue no matter what. There's a way to everything, only a commencement of dedication and consistency is needed and the rest of the needs will be fulfilled.

Mother Cabrini became a patron of hope among the immigrants around the world. She have successfully conquered countries with her mission to help the less fortunate ones and uphold dignity for the discriminated people in the sewers while serving God. She is the embodiment of hope, generosity, kindness and love for the ones who once lived in the dark. Her life came to an end but her legacy lives on.

If you're looking for an inspiring movie, this could be good for you. It tells us to come out of our comfort zones, fight for what we think is right and not to let people tell you where they think you should belong when you know you can do more.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and reading if you have reach the end of this blog. I hope I have shared something good here since it's been a while that I'm gone from writing.

Have a good day! ♥

There's something eerie about the choice of the film color. I thought at first it's a horror movie :') glad to know it isn't. Is this also available on netflix?

True, it really gives off such kind of vibe.😄 Sadly, it's not available on Netflix. I've checked, it's only available on Angel Studios, Prime Video and Apple TV.

It looks interesting. The subject of women like her always catches the eye.

Yep, often the one who has a strong character.

They made her story too secular imho, based on the trailer. Saints are always very humble unlike their portrayal of her. Oh well am glad you enjoyed the story but for sure there's more to her than what the movie shows everyone.

I don't know an other portrayal of her since it was my first time actually knowing her. But i think, what matters most is her good deeds and influence to the world.

Yeah I think it's the first movie about her.
