Glass Onion : A knives out mystery
I was hunting for a movie to watch and relax my ever active mind. I wanted a bit of mystery in what I was watching and then my mind went to a movie I'd watched before but for some reason couldn't remember what it was about. I did remember it to be a great movie though. The name is Knives Out. While I was searching for Knives out to download it, I came across a similar film and it caught my attention. Same theme of mystery, a very recognizable cast and the trailer drew me in so I decided to watch it instead. I bring you Glass Onion : A knives out mystery.
PLOT
Miles Bron a billionaire and entrepreneur invites all of his closest friends to his private island for one of his usual parties he does once a year. But this time is different because the theme of this party is that they're going to play a game and figure out who murdered him and why. Then there's the fact that Andi, his old friend who he screwed over years ago decides to show up for the first time ever. Also, without his knowledge, someone invites Benoit Blanc, the world's greatest detective to the party. He waves it off and sees it as some kind of joke. But after a series of events it starts to get clear that for at least one person in the house, his murder is not a game.
MY THOUGHTS
If it's mystery you want this movie did a very good job at it. There's a lot of unexpected plot twists, but the twists are just enough to not make it confusing and a headache. Right from the beginning you get some of the clues, but it is basically impossible for the average viewer to see it as a clue until you get to the ending and then you're like
"Oh, I remember this. That makes sense."
I like it when this happens in a movie, the big reveal, there's a lot of this. You mostly find them in the dialogue that seems somewhat unrelated to what is going on. That is something I like about mystery in general, you may think random ramblings are irrelevant but they somehow add little pieces to the puzzle at the most unexpected of moments.
The cast was wonderful in their acting and they fit their role quite well. Miles Bron wasn't the most likable character in the film, but for some reason I found his character intriguing. His character had me wondering how someone could be so dumb and intelligent at the same time. Then Benoit Blanc who is just always calm and composed. His detective skills are amazing.
The cinematic experience too was good. There's not too many outside the box and over the top scenes, but you know this is not some low budget movie when you're watching it (If the cast is not enough of an indicator).
There's not too much complaint on my part from this movie, although there was a part after the big reveal that felt weird, but other than that, it was an amazing movie. I would totally recommend it for lovers of mystery movies Giving this an 8/10. I will also go and find the original knives out I was looking for. Like I said I don't remember much from the first time but I feel it may be better than this. We'll see. Till next time.
