Well, I was thankful I found “Everything Now” The name kind of makes you try to think what exactly is this movie about as by just looking at the name you won’t have the slightest idea what the movie is all about. On seeing just the trailer and the few write-up Netflix adds to their movies I became interested and decided to give it a shot and also the fact that it’s new, so no spoiler yet flying around.

ABOUT THE SERIES

Everything Now is a British Teen TV show that has just 8 Episodes at the moment. Its focus is on Anorexia, family, friendship, and relationships.
Well, this was my first time hearing about Anorexia.

Anorexia is an eating disorder and a situation where someone doesn’t feel comfortable about their body and would want to reduce weight.

The series is centered on the lead actress Sophie Milde (Mia Polanco) who is an anorexia patient, she developed an eating disorder because she slowly wanted to disappear from the earth. She just returned home and to school after 7months of being in the hospital undergoing several medications and therapy to help with her eating disorder.

She returns home to discover new changes in her family and her friends. She discovered while she was away her friends learned new things and went through several changes as well. Then she feels she is just stagnant and needs to catch up with everything she didn’t get to do. So she makes a bucket list to get it all done. It was fascinating as she had her friends around to help her tick every box on her bucket list

The road wasn’t as smooth as she thought it would be, when she realized that her close friends and family had been hiding a huge secret about themselves from her, her parent's divorce, her friends' relationship, well they hid everything from her with the sole aim of her feeling better before letting her know.
She didn’t react rightly when she found out about every secret and had an outburst with her friends at some point. Along the line, she was able to resolve it and they were back to ticking every box on her bucket list.

Everything was going well not until her 17th year birthday when she fell out with her best friend and had to go back to the situation of having her eating disorder again. When her mom found out she decided to run away from home.
Well, everything became better as she spoke to someone she loved and tried to mend things again. But the question is would she be able to go through this phase?

MY THOUGHTS AND OPINION

This series is one with an awareness of anorexia patients and I think it opened the mind of its viewers to the various struggles that anorexia patient has to go through and the reason they took that decision.

Everything Now Series tells us more about the lives of teens and young adults, how they go through things, what they go through, and how well it affects them. It gives us an open mentality of what people from broken homes deal with. What people who needs to be heard as well deal with.

The selection of music in this series was mind-blowing. As every scene and soundtrack attached to it was calling and giving. In my words, I think they had a great choice of music. I love the fact that most soundtracks were Afrobeats, that gave it a nicer concept as well. I commend the production team cause they did well with the production of this series.

ACTING

I would commend the actors as they did great in everything.
Most especially the lead actor Sophie Wilde played Mia Polcano she played the role perfectly. She was so into it. Played the mood swing so well, the facial expression, the crazy part. If I were to term her character I would say “Bipolar”. She did a great job.

Everyone played their roles very well, from her friends, to her parents down to the therapist. They all were great and I would say they all did a great job. Kudos to everyone on the crew. They all made it funny and emotional.

Finally, from Episode 1 to Episode 8 I was anticipating the next episode. The movie got me so intrigued. It is a series that could get you addicted to your screens. I will highly recommend this series to anyone who wants to be educated about anorexia and also know more about the teenage lifestyle.
I would rate this a 9/10 😊

Cheers 🥂
