Guillermo del Toro never disappoints with his extraordinary stories. This morning I decided to sit down to watch a movie, I was a little saturated and therefore, a movie would do me good, I thought and so it was.

Among the searches for cartoons, Pinocchio appeared, a movie not one hundred percent musical but with something of this style. Pinocchio is a Mexican and American production that belongs to the fantasy genre. It was produced by the master Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson. It was released in the year 2022 but it is now when I was encouraged to see it.

Guillermo del Toro nunca decepciona con sus extraordinarios cuentos. Esta mañana decidí sentarme a ver un película, me encontraba algo saturada y por ende, una película me caería bien, eso pensé y así fue.

Entre las búsquedas de dibujos animados apareció Pinocho, una película no cien por ciento musical pero sí con algo de este estilo. Pinocho es una producción mexicana y estadounidense que pertenece al género de fantasía. Fue producida por el maestro Guillermo del Toro y Mark Gustafson. Se estrenó en el año 2022 pero es ahora cuando me animé a verla.

I watched the film on telegram and I thought the resolution was very good as well as the sound. The soundtrack was really up to par as well as the musicalization in some parts of the film.

The story of Pinocchio is fascinating, it is not at all a slow movie as we are used to see in the original tale. On the contrary, I found that it kept good speed and each event as well as the stories are not boring at all.

The film contains dark fantasy as it combines certain elements of horror, although nothing exaggerated or unwatchable. There is simply a dark atmosphere with some of the characters and to tell the truth, they fit together very well.

La película la vi por telegram y me pareció muy buena la resolución así como el sonido. La banda sonora estuvo realmente a la altura así como la musicalización en algunas partes del film.

Las historia de Pinocho es fascinante, para nada es una película lenta como estamos acostumbrados a ver en el cuento original. Al contrario, me pareció que mantuvo buena velocidad y cada sucesos así como las historias no aburren para nada.

La película contiene fantasía oscura ya que combina ciertos elementos de terror aunque nada exagerados ni tampoco para decir que no puede verse. Simplemente se evidencia un ambiente tenebroso con algunos personajes y al decir verdad, encajan muy bien.

Something I had never read or seen in the story of Pinocchio was the event that marked Geppeto's life. I remember that the creation of the wooden doll was due to the death of one of the old man's sons, but there were no details of the event and it was not something of great interest to me.

This story tells in detail what happened to Carlos, Geppeto's son, and how his tragic death occurred. While Geppeto and Carlos were in a church, very strange noises were heard. Geppeto imagined that it was a bombing while Carlos was only surprised. The most important thing was that there was no military conflict, but missiles were fired at the place where father and son were. That is where the tragedy began and the story begins to be told in the first person.

Algo que nunca había leído ni había visto en la historia de Pinocho fue el suceso que marcó la vida de Geppeto. Recuerdo que la creación del muñeco de madera había sido por la muerte de un hijo del viejo más sin embargo, no habían detalles del suceso y tampoco fue algo de mayor interés para mí.

En esta historia se cuenta con detalles qué ocurrió con Carlos, hijo de Geppeto y cómo fue su trágica muerte. Estando Geppeto y Carlos en una iglesia se escuchan estruendos muy extraños. Geppeto imaginó que se trataba de un bombardeo mientras Carlos solo se mostraba sorprendido. Lo más cumbre fue que no hubo un conflicto bélico pero sí se dispararon misiles hacia el lugar donde se hallaban padre e hijo. Allí comenzó la tragedia y se comienza a narrar la historia en primera persona.

The narrator is the famous character Pepe Grillo who is described as a future writer. His desire is to create his own story and to do so he goes in search of events. Precisely, he arrives to Pinocchio's life and it is his opportunity to create, **Pepe Grillo is still a very funny character in this story.

To be honest, I think there are a lot of issues that are addressed in the film. One thing that I did find a little bit odd or lost in the film was the creation of the doll. We have always known that Pinocchio was built by Geppeto but, in this version it is said that he was created by a fairy but then it is said that he was created by the old man. I repeat, I may have gotten a little lost on that one.

Getting back to the point of the themes I think they are all very important. The first one or at least the one I detected from the beginning was the comparison between the children. It is evident the criticism towards parents because we tend to fall into that plane of comparing one child with another.

El narrador es el famoso personaje Pepe Grillo a quien describe como un futuro escritor. Su deseo es crear su propia historia y para ello va en busca de los sucesos. Justamente, llega a la vida de Pinocho y es su oportunidad para crear, **Pepe Grillo sigue siendo un personaje muy divertido en esta historia.

Si les soy honetas creo que son muchos temas los que se abordan en la cinta. Algo que me hizo ruido o del que me perdí en el film fue la creación del muñeco. Siempre hemos sabido que Pinocho fue construido por Geppeto pero, en esta versión se dice que fue creado por un hada pero luego se dice que fue creado por el viejo. Les repito, puede que me haya perdido un poco en eso.

Regresando al punto de los temas creo que todos son muy importantes. El primero de ellos o al menos el que yo detecté desde el inicio fue la comparación entre los hijos. Es evidente la crítica hacia los padres porque tendemos a caer en ese plano de comparar a un hijo con otro.

Another lesson born from that same criticism is Pinocchio's kindness. Despite living next to the old man who does not see beyond the eyes of his deceased son, Pinocchio understands that he does not do it with bad intentions and that it is pain that makes him say things that do not come from the heart.

There are other important and outstanding values in the great masterpiece but, without spoilers because that's not what I came here for, who has seen this version of Pinocchio? What did you think of it?

Otra lección que nace de esa misma crítica es la bondad de Pinocho. A pesar de vivir al lado del viejo que no ve más allá de los ojos de su hijo fallecido, Pinocho entiende que no lo hace con mala intención y que es el dolor quien le hace decir cosas que no brotan desde el corazón.
