"Elite" Season 7 review: good storyline, and better and more complex character development

First it caught me by surprise because I had no idea it was about to be released, second, I loved it. As soon as I saw that it was already available on Netflix I didn't hesitate to watch it, but I thought: better the devil you know than the good you don't know, because I wanted to see something I liked and not go round and round choosing a production.

Hola queridos amigos de Movies & TV Shows, espero que estén pasando un día hermoso. En esta oportunidad acerco la reseña de la última temporada publicada de Elite, la temporada 7. ¡Vaya sorpresa!

Primero me agarró de golpe porque no tenía idea que estaba por estrenar, segundo, me encantó. En cuanto vi que estaba en Netflix ya disponible no dudé en verla, pero pensé: más vale malo conocido que bueno por conocer, pues quería ver algo que me gustara y no dar vueltas eligiendo producción.

I was expecting something monotonous, one more story to be resolved throughout the series, and although it flirted a bit with this concept, Elite 7 went a bit further, and advanced on somewhat more delicate topics such as suicide, while showing great maturity in the characters, who begin to really act with a bit more coherence.

The character of Isadora, who I detested when she barely appeared in the series, with El Paso of these last seasons has managed to surprise me for the better, as in the end she has ended up being an example of resilience, values and respect.

Me esperaba algo monótono, una historia más por resolver durante toda la serie, y aunque un poco se coqueteó con este concepto, Elite 7 fue un poco más allá, y avanzó sobre temas algo más delicados como el suicidio, al tiempo que mostró gran madurez en los personajes, que empiezan a actuar realmente con un poco más de coherencia.

El personaje de Isadora, que detesté cuando apenas apareció en la serie, con El Paso de estas últimas temporadas ha logrado sorprenderme para bien, pues al final ha terminado siendo un ejemplo de resiliencia, valores y respeto.

Plot

Well, we continue with this school context that already plays a bit with the life of the characters more outside than inside the school.

The true face of the person responsible for the last incident of the series does not come to light (I will not reveal it here in case any of the readers have not yet seen the previous season); the theme of drug addiction and other addictions is dealt with hand in hand with invisibility and suicide.

It also focuses a lot on business and the multiple moves that can be made behind the scenes to earn more and more money, and it shows how "all that glitters is not all gold", presenting how even the façade can be involved in serious crimes.

The subject of manipulation is dealt with from different focuses and how this among peers and between parents and children can have serious repercussions on the behavior of others.

Trama

Bueno, continuamos con este contexto escolar que ya juega un poco con la vida de los personajes más fuera que dentro del colegio.

No sale a la luz el verdadero rostro del responsable del último siniestro de la serie (no lo revelaré aquí por si alguno de los lectores aún no vio la temporada anterior); se aborda la temática de la drogadicción y otras adicciones de la mano de la invisibilidad y el suicidio.

Tambiién se hace bastante foco en el tema negocios y las múltiples movidas que pueden hacerse por detrás para ganar más y más dinero, y se deja en evidencia cómo “no es todo oro lo que brilla”, presentando cómo hasta la fachada más justa puede estar involucrada en graves delitos.

Se trata bastante el tema de la manipulación desde diferentes focos y cómo esto entre pares y entre padres/madres e hijos, puede repercutir gravemente en las conductas de los demás.

Se aborda la red de apoyo como una “pata” fundamental en el acompañamiento del adolescente que está atravesando un conflicto (y cualquier otra persona, solo que aquí el foco está en los chicos y chicas), y lo importante que puede resultar una acción que en apariencia es insignificante para dar respuesta a conflictos que puedan estar atravesando los chicos.

También se acerca la serie nuevamente al abordaje de los diferentes “tipos” de padres que hay, y cómo la presencia y la ausencia de los mismos (aunque su figura está allí se puede leer la ausencia), influye en los jóvenes.

Opinion

As I said at the beginning, I really liked this season. I was quite entertained, I noticed it was intended for a more adult audience and went beyond the initial Elite mystery that there is a death and a murderer to discover.

This concept is somehow abandoned, things are clearer and are accompanied by some suspense, and at least from my point of view, they manage to generate more empathy in the audience.

I like the fact that there are "fashionable" topics, such as emotional manipulation, which has had (and is having) greater visibility in recent times. It has always existed, but somehow there is more exposure of this problem and I think the fact that the series addresses it is quite interesting to contribute to awareness.

Anyway, although I thought this installment was very good, I think it is a series that should be giving closure to the story, because if I remember correctly, the last season left me with a taste of little, and that "if I remember correctly" is worrying for me, because it indicates that it was not very significant.

Opinión

Como les decía al inicio, me gustó mucho esta temporada. Me entretuvo bastante, la noté pensada para un público ya más adulto y fue más allá del misterio inicial de Elite de que hay una muerte y un asesino que descubrir.

Este concepto de alguna manera se abandona, las cosas son más claras y se acompañan de cierto suspenso, y al menos desde mi punto de vista, logran generar más empatía en la audiencia.

Me gusta que hayan temáticas “de moda”, como es la manipulación emocional, que en este último tiempo ha tenido (y está teniendo) mayor visibilidad. Siempre existió, pero de alguna manera hay más exposición de esta problemática y creo que el hecho de que la serie lo aborde es bastante interesante para contribuir a la toma de conciencia.

De todas maneras, aunque me pareció muy buena esta entrega, creo que es una serie que ya debería ir dando cierre a la historia, pues si mal no recuerdo, la última temporada me dejó con gusto a poco, y ese “si mal no recuerdo” es preocupante para mí, porque indica que fue poco significativa.

While I might actually be looking forward to a season 8 this time around, I doubt that continuity for much longer is going to be able to captivate its audience. Apparently, according to espinof.com, season 8 would be the last season to be delivered in two parts.

I think if that's the end, it will have been a smart decision, so that "Elite" will go out with its head held high.

Recommended if you have been following the series! If not, the truth is that I also recommend watching it, but from the beginning. In that case, fasten your seatbelt to the couch and watch 7 seasons of one of the most watched Spanish series on Netflix.

Aunque esta vez sí que podría estar esperando una temporada 8, dudo que la continuidad por mucho más tiempo vaya a ser capaz de cautivar a su público. Aparentemente, según espinof.com, la octava sería la última temporada que se entregará en dos partes.

Creo que si ese es el final, habrá sido una decisión inteligente, para que “Elite” se retire con la cabeza en alto.

Recomendada si vienen siguiendo la serie! Sino, la verdad es que también recomiendo verla, pero desde el principio. En ese caso, ajusten el cinturón al sofá y a verse 7 temporadas de una de las series españolas más vistas de Netflix.
