Because I love The Nightmare Before Christmas (ENG/SPA)
Hello,internet people. I'm very happy and excited to bring this review in the middle of Halloween, I'm usually very technical when it comes to giving reviews and I probably will be in this one, but I want to prioritize the love I have for this movie and talk about one of my icons since I saw the movie the first time: Jack Skellington.

Estoy muy feliz y emocionada por traer esta review en pleno día de Halloween, usualmente soy muy técnica a la hora de dar reviews y probablemente lo sea en este, pero quiero priorizar el amor que le tengo a esta película y hablar del que ha sido uno de mis iconos desde que vi la película la primera vez: Jack Skellington
I have to give a standing ovation to the art of this film, although it wasn't directed by Tim Burton himself (he was busy directing another movie) the story and the design are clearly his, and you can tell just by looking at the film, as Tim's art screams in our faces. The beginning already shows us that we will see a work of art in all its expression, a voice-over takes us to a distant time where strange events took place inside Halloween Town. Behind the door begins a succession of sequence shots linked with black transitions showing us the town and its inhabitants, who sing a song (UNCONICAL) to tell us about their holiday, Halloween, and also, we are introduced in a lavish way to the pumpkin king, the greatest exponent of terror and hero of the town, Jack Skellington. This musical is so beautiful that I have to show it to you:
Tengo que aplaudir de pie el arte de esta película, aunque no fue dirigida propiamente por Tim Burton (estaba ocupado dirigiendo otra peli) la historia y el diseño claro que son suyos, y eso se nota nada más mirando la película, ya que el arte de Tim nos grita en la cara. El inicio ya nos muestra que veremos una obra de arte en toda su expresión, una voz en off nos lleva a un tiempo lejano en donde extraños acontecimientos dieron lugar dentro de Halloween Town. Tras la puerta empieza una sucesión de planos secuencia unidos con transiciones a negro nos enseña la ciudad y sus habitantes, los cuales cantan una canción (INCÓNICA) para contarnos sobre su festividad, Halloween, y además, nos presentan de forma fastuosa al rey calabaza, al mayor exponente del terror y héroe de la ciudad, Jack Skellington. Este musical es tan hermoso que se los tengo que mostrar:
In fact the sountrack is one of the best things in the film (but everything is beautiful in it).
De hecho el sountrack es una de las mejores cosas en la película (pero es que todo es hermoso en ella)
The story takes place in Halloween Town, where Jack is always a party animal, but Jack, tired of the routine, enters the town of Christmas and is dazzled by it. That's when he decides to steal it.
La historia toma lugar en Halloween Town donde Jack siempre anima las fiestas, pero este, cansado de la rutina, entra a la ciudad de la navidad y se deslumbra por esta. Es entonces cuando decide robársela.
The aesthetics of the film reminds us of German expressionist cinema with elements such as elongated shadows, inclined camera angles or a surrealist set, being made with stop motion technology, the movements of the characters help the strange and attractive atmosphere, let's agree that if this film was animated in 3D, it would not be the same. The enormous work behind this film makes us love it and value it, I mean that for every second of film, they had to take 24 pictures, even with this, they made panning and cross camera angles, interesting, and worked, they didn't make it simple, on the contrary, and it is something to be applauded.
La estética de la película nos recuerda al cine expresionista alemán con elementos como sombras alargadas, ángulos de cámara inclinados o un decorado surrealista, al ser hecha con tecnología Stop motion, los movimientos de los personajes ayudan a la ambientación extraña y atrayente, convengamos que si esta película fuese animada en 3d, no sería lo mismo. El enorme trabajo tras esta película nos hace amarla y valorarla, quiero decir que para cada segundo de película, tuvieron que sacar 24 fotos, aún con esto, hicieron paneos y ángulos de cámara transversos, interesantes, y trabajados, no lo hicieron simple, todo lo contrario, y es algo digno de aplaudir.
The lighting in the film is very good, there is a lot of contrast between light and dark, being the shadows the protagonists, in addition, in the presentation of the villain, Oogie Boggie, there is an ultraviolet lighting that makes him shine, as well as some elements that react to this type of light, all an art.
La iluminación en la película es buenísma, hay mucho contraste entre claros y oscuros, siendo las sombras las protagonistas, además, en la presentación del villano, Oogie Boggie, hay una iluminación ultravioleta que lo hace brillar, además de algunos elementos que reaccionan a este tipo de luz, todo un arte.
Many people think that the plot is very simple, I would say that the plot is not simple but subtle, behind the main plot (Jack stealing Christmas) we have the fact that he feels empty, he feels that the routine is killing him and he is not happy, he longs for something more, that's why he is dazzled by the first party he sees, because he is desperate for something more. Although he tries to understand Christmas and feel the warmth he felt in Christmas Town, and as much as he investigates and as much as he tries to make the inhabitants of Halloween Town recreate the holiday, they only manage to make a paradox of Christmas, creepy presents and a whole holiday misrepresented, scary and cold, the opposite of what Jack was looking for and that is precisely because none of them know those feelings and are made to scare.
Mucha gente piensa que la trama es muy simple, yo diría que la trama no es simple sino sutil, detrás del argumento principal (Jack robándose la navidad) tenemos el hecho de que él se siente vacío, siente que la rutina lo está matando y no es feliz, anhela algo más, es por eso que se deslumbra por la primera fiesta que ve, porque está desesperado por algo más. Aunque intenta entender la navidad y sentir la calidez que sintió en Christmas Town, y por más que investiga y por más que intenta hacer que los habitantes de Halloween Town recreen la festividad, solo logran hacer una paradoja de la navidad, regalos escalofriantes y toda una festividad tergiversada, aterradora y fría, todo lo contrario a lo que Jack buscaba, y es precisamente porque ninguno de ellos conoce esos sentimientos y están hechos para asustar.
But not understanding the holiday, Jack chooses to steal it, he doesn't see Christmas as a holiday of togetherness and sharing, but of something he wants to have to feel that warmth. We know it all ends badly with his attempt to replace Santa Claus, but at least the breaking point makes him realise that he was wrong and that he must put things right.
Pero al no entender la festividad, Jack elige robársela, no ve la navidad como una festividad de unión y compartir, sino de algo que desea tener para sentir esa calidez. Sabemos que todo termina mal con su intento de remplazar a papá Noel, pero al menos el punto de quiebre le hace entender que se equivocó y que debe arreglar las cosas.
Sally, on the other hand, is in love with Jack and despite being a prisoner, she is always looking for ways to escape to be with him, to give him presents, to attend to his needs in some way and also to advise him when she thinks he is not doing things right, although it seems at first that Sally idolises him, we realise that this is not the case as she is not afraid to go against the one she loves to protect him and to defend her convictions. Sally is able to bring Jack the warmth that Christmas brings to him because she has a genuine love for him, but Jack doesn't see it because he is obsessed with Christmas. Fortunately in the end he realises this and as well as living happily as the king of his own holiday, he gets the feeling of warmth and love now through Sally.
por otro lado, Sally está enamorada de Jack y pese a ser una prisionera, busca la manera de escaparse siempre para estar con él, hacerle regalos, atender de alguna manera sus necesidades y además aconsejarlo cuando cree que no hace bien las cosas, pese a que pareciera al principio que Sally lo idolatra, nos damos cuenta que no es así, ya que no teme llevarle la contraria a quien ama por protegerlo y por defender sus convicciones. Sally puede aportarle a Jack la calidez que la navidad le produce, ya que ella siente auténtico amor por él, pero Jack no lo ve por estar obsesionado con la navidad. Afortunadamente al final se da cuenta y además de vivir feliz por ser el rey de su propia festividad, obtiene la sensación de calidez y amor ahora a través de Sally.
Oogie Boogie is a very well thought out villain because despite appearing very little, he represents the end of a warm life for Jack, Boogie planned to kill Sally and Santa Claus just because he wants it, because he is evil and is such an outcast that, within the already marginalised of Halloween Town (let's agree that the other festivities are far from this one and that is why they are the outcasts within all the festivities) Boogie is the outcast of the town. By killing Sally and Santa Claus, Jack would lose the two things that have given him a kind of well-being different from the one he gets from scaring people, so he rescues them and although very angry about what happened, Santa Claus decides to share a bit of Christmas with the inhabitants of Halloween Town, a genuine Christmas that makes them feel happy, and Jack also becomes Sally's boyfriend, which leads him to experience the two warm feelings of well-being he was looking for so much.
Oogie Boogie es un villano muy bien planteado porque a pesar de aparecer poco, representa el fin de una vida cálida para Jack, Boogie planeaba matar a Sally y a Santa Claus porque sí y ya, porque es malvado y es tan marginado que, dentro de los ya marginados de Halloween Town (convengamos que las demás festividades distan mucho de esta y que por eso son los marginados dentro de todas las festividades) Boogie es el marginado del pueblo. Al acabar con Sally y Santa Claus, Jack perdería las dos cosas que le han generado una especie de bienestar diferente al que le da asustar gente, por tanto los rescata y aunque muy enfadado por lo que pasó, San Claus decide compartirles un poco de navidad a los habitantes de Halloween Town, navidad genuina que los hace sentir felices, además Jack se hace novio de Sally, lo que lo lleva a experimentar los dos sentimientos cálidos de bienestar que tanto buscaba.
The soundtrack is great, the songs are catchy, they explain very well part of the plot without annoying or boring, also the musicalisation is a jewel, everything expected in a film of this style and helps to complement it well.
El soundtrack es buenísimo, las canciones son pegadizas, explican muy bien parte de la trama sin fastidiar o aburrir, además la musicalización es una joya, todo lo esperado a una película de este estilo, y ayuda bien a complementar.
I give this film a 10 out of 10, because as I said before, there is nothing wrong with it, there is not one aspect of it that is poorly made or poorly thought out, everything is absolutely very good. If you haven't seen it yet, you should, you're missing out on a lot.
A esta película le doy un 10 de 10, ya que como dije antes, no hay nada malo con ella, no tiene ningún aspecto que esté mal hecho o planteado, todo es absolutamente muy bueno. Si aún no la han visto, deberían hacerlo, se están perdiendo de mucho.

Una película muy buena y es un clásico de Halloween y cada año se nota que la pasan por los distintos canales de televisión y de esa manera mostrar ambas fechas. Sin duda me gusto como lograron recrear esa gran trama y el personaje no es anda agradable, sin duda permite llevar la película a otro nivel. Además se destaca por la gran creatividad y alguno mensajes que deja esta película. Gracias por compartirlo con nosotros.

Me gustaría comentarte algo sobre el título: si lo que quisiste expresar con él fueron las razones que te hacen amar esta película (que es lo que deduzco de tu post), es decir lo que en español sería Por qué amo "The Night Before Christmas" (y sí, en ese caso, aunque no es pregunta, ese por qué lleva tilde) entonces el título del post debería ser Why I love The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Este tipo de películas son mis favoritas, el extraño mundo de Jack y su especial de navidad son de los mejores.
Personalmente, me gusta muchísimo el trabajo de Tim Burton, no tengo favoritos, pero si tuviera que hacer un top, sin duda esta película estaría incluida, grandiosa reseña.
