Disappeared at night - Film Review [ENG-ESP]

The marriage between Pietro and Elena is not working and they are divorcing, she is not happy with the life she has in Bari, Italy, having left the United States, her profession that she cannot practice in the place where she lives because of the problems with the language, everything makes her feel frustrated and she wants to divorce to go to her native country. Pietro only wants to be with his two children and accepts that he has made mistakes and has had problems with alcohol and gambling, so much so that creditors are looking for him to collect.

Elena has to leave on a trip and Pietro picks up his children at home to take them to a house on the outskirts of the city that they bought together when they had plans to set up a hotel, this huge house is their new home since they stopped living together a year ago. Everything was going well, during the day they sailed and swam and then like a responsible father he bathed his kids and put them to bed and then went to watch a soccer game while he had a few beers and smoked. Like any father who checks on his kids during the night while they sleep (most of us do), Pietro goes to the bedroom to check that his kids are asleep but not in bed.

He looks all over the house and does not find them, he despairs because his children are missing. At that moment Elena calls, because she had said that when she arrived at her destination she was going to do so to find out how they were, he tells her that he cannot find his children and she immediately tells him that she is going to take the first flight back and so he does. When they are together, the kidnappers call to ask for 150,000 euros, which they do not have. Pietro immediately suspects the moneylender to whom he owes 250,000 euros.

El matrimonio entre Pietro y Elena no está funcionando y se están divorciando, ella no está feliz con la vida que tiene en Bari, Italia, con haber dejado Estados Unidos, su profesión el cual no puede ejercer en el lugar donde reside por los problemas con el idioma, todo hace que se sienta frustrada y se quiera divorciar para irse a su país natal. Pietro solo quiere estar con sus dos hijos y acepta que ha cometido errores y ha tenido problemas de alcohol y apuestas, tanto que los acreedores lo buscan para cobrarle.

Elena, tiene que salir de viaje y Pietro pasa por sus hijos a su casa para llevarlos a una casa a las afueras de la ciudad que compraron juntos cuando tenían planes de montar un hotel, está casa inmensa es su nuevo hogar desde hace un año cuando dejaron de vivir juntos. Todo iba bien, durante el día navegaron y nadaron y más tarde como un padre responsable baña a sus hijos y los acuesta a dormir y se dispone a ver un partido de fútbol mientras toma unas cervezas y fuma. Cómo todo padre que durante la noche pasa revista a los hijos mientras duermen (la mayoría lo hacemos), Pietro va al cuarto a ver a sus hijos dormidos pero no están en la cama.

Busca por toda la casa y no los encuentra, se desespera por qué sus hijos se esfumaron. En ese momento Elena llama, porque había dicho que al llegar a su destino iba a hacerlo para saber cómo estaban, él le cuenta que no encuentra a sus hijos y ella inmediatamente le dice que va a tomar el primer vuelo de regreso y así lo hace. Cuando ya están juntos llaman los secuestradores para pedir la suma de 150.000 euros, suma que no tienen. En seguida Pietro sospecha del prestamista al que le debe 250.000 euros.

Short of money, desperate to find his children and at Elene’s insistence, Pietro turns to Nicola, a childhood friend he has been avoiding because he is involved in dirty business, but whom he now needs. Although the friend does not refuse, he asks him to do a small job for him that very night, he only has to sail to an island in Greece where there is only one restaurant and he must wait for them to contact him to deliver a package and when he is back he will get the money with which he will save his children’s lives.

With no other options he has to do it, Elena accompanies him to the port and they say goodbye with a passionate kiss. With some setbacks, the work is done in scenes of anguish on the part of Pietro for not being able to complete the job and get paid. From here on I can’t tell you more, because I would be telling you important facts. But I have already told you about the most important characters and one of them has children.

Sin tener el dinero, desesperado por encontrar a sus hijos y por la insistencia de Elene, Pietro acude a Nicola, un amigo de la infancia al que ha estado evitando por estar metido en negocios sucios, pero del que ahora necesita. Aunque el amigo no se niega, le pide que haga un pequeño trabajo para él esa misma noche, solo debe navegar hasta una isla de Grecia donde solo hay un restaurante y debe esperar ser contactado para que le hagan entrega de un paquete y cuando esté de regreso obtendrá el dinero con el que le salvará la vida a sus hijos.

Sin más opciones tiene que hacerlo, Elena lo acompaña al puerto y se despiden con un beso apasionado. Con algunos contratiempo el trabajo se realiza en unas escenas de angustia por parte de Pietro de no poder completar el trabajo y obtener la paga. De aquí para delante ya no te puedo contar nada más, porque hay si estaría contándote datos importantes. Pero ya te hablé de los personajes más importantes y uno de ellos tiene a los niños.

It is a good movie, it makes you think that everyone could have the children, even Pietro who puts his life in danger but he also has reasons to want that money and like him I found reasons in each of the four characters I talked about but only one of them kidnapped the children.

This movie is a remake of “Séptimo” a movie from Argentina from 2013, I have not seen the original movie so for me everything was new. I was not surprised by the outcome because I had suspected it after some unanswered calls that seemed super weird to me and would not make sense going through a situation with this one.

The ending as such is not explained, just a distorted picture but one that you can suspect or at least I did in my own way. They leave to the imagination of the consumer the conclusion, in my case I concluded that the couple after going through everything and understanding each other’s position, they give each other the opportunity to be like a family. But perhaps others think that after all that has happened, that is impossible.

Es una buena película, te lleva a pensar en que todos pudieran tener a los niños, hasta en Pietro que pone su vida en peligro pero que también tiene razones para querer ese dinero y así como él pues encontré razones en cada uno de los cuatro personajes de los que hablé pero solo uno de ellos secuestró a los niños.

Está película es un remake de “Séptimo” una película de Argentina del 2013, no he visto la película original así que para mí todo fue nuevo. No me asombró el resultado porque si lo había sospechado luego de unas llamadas sin contestar que me parecían súper raras y que no tendrían sentido pasando por una situación con esta.

El final como tal no está explicado, solo una imagen distorsionada pero que se puede sospechar o al menos yo lo hice a mi manera. Dejan a la imaginación del consumidor la conclusión, en mi caso concluí que la pareja después de haber pasado por todo y entender la posición de cada uno, se dan una oportunidad para estar en familia. Pero tal vez otros piensen que después de todo lo sucedido eso sea imposible.
