Movie Review - War: Wrath and Revenge.
This is one very complicated and twisted plot lol. I must confess Nollywood outdid themselves with this movie. At first, you won't know where the movie is going but being that it's a really interesting play with the actors bringing in their A-game, you get hooked and just try to make sense of all that you are viewing. But in the end, the puzzle is fixed, the dots are connected and the movie sums up nicely. This is a movie that borders around life in Northern Nigeria.
The Plot
Like the title, the movie revolves around Conflict, Vengence and Romance so you can imagine how good it gets. The play centred around a community called Kowa, rich in diamonds but the locals aren't allowed to mine it. Only the elites reserved the right to mine for the diamonds. Unfortunately, after exploiting the land of its resources, the proceeds realized from the sale of these diamonds are pocketed and nothing is invested in the community. As time passed some of the locals sneaked into the mine and mined illegally. When news got to the elites in the city, their reaction was rather ruthless as they sent bandits to not only raid the community but shoot at sight anyone they came across.
The community soon became a terrain of bandits which didn't tell well on the performance of the incumbent governor Sanusi whom Nuhu was going against. While both Nuhu and his wife tried to get support from the elites for the upcoming election, they were soon met with rejection from Emir by name Khalifa
Now here's where the Plot twist began. Khalifa and Nuhu used to be good friends. They were more like family as Khalifa's cousin Buba was also a best friend to Nuhu. Unfortunately, due to political interest, Nuhu and Khalifa fell apart leaving just Nuhu and Buba to continue in the friendship. While Buba supported Nuhu, Khalifa didn't as he was supporting the incumbent governor Sanusi whom he has shading dealings with. More so, Khalifa's antagonizing Nuhu led to his Assassination via a plane crash.
With the nature and manner in which the Emir died, foul play was suspected and the whole situation quickly became political. The people soon started calling for the head of the CEO of the aircraft Alicia Kana accusing her of plotting with the Emir's rivals and murdering him. As Alicia battles to not only save her neck, she also fights to save her late father's airline. A fight that opened Pandora's box revealing secrets which eliminated relationships plus friendship.
My Review and Ratings
I am rating this movie a 9/10. As I said earlier the Characters did an amazing job and brought the play to life by investing in their emotions. Although some of the scenes were off, especially the action part regardless, it's something that could be overlooked as it didn't water down the overall performance of the movie.
It's a seasonal movie with six episodes, having several interesting storylines but I'm going for the story that borders around Alicia's character because it was one with great lessons. It portrays the phrase "dining and sleeping with the enemy" so well and exposes us to the fact that the enemy and perpetrators of our downfall are always within.
If there's one thing I learnt from watching this movie, is persistent no matter how life-threatening the situation might be. In Alicia's story, she fought to prove her innocence. It wasn't easy but she did everything within her power to uncover the cause of the plane crash which led to the Emir's death. She even hired a private investigator from America and while all this was going on, her lover Buba offered her marriage. According to him, being the cousin to the late Emir and also the best-suited candidate for the Emir position, he has the power to protect Alicia and make the whole attack go away.
As assuring as he sounded, Alicia declined which didn't make sense to me at first because why turn down such an opportunity given the situation she was in? She stood losing credibility on the business her late father worked so hard to build not to mention her life was also in danger. But as I progressed further into the movie, I soon understood Alicia's stance on her style of justice.
Sometimes it pays to fight back especially when one is sure of their innocence. If there's one thing I have learned in life is that with clean hands and a clear conscience, good will always triumph over evil. Quite unfortunately not many of us have the mind and patience to win the war of good vs evil.
In the movie, Alicia is a determined strong female lead who is against indebtedness. I'm sure she would have jumped on the offer of marriage from her lover given any other circumstances but the thought of what was at stake was the game changer. If she had married Buba as an escape, the perpetrators would never come to book and a crime would have been swept under the carpet.
Again, knowing how criminal masterminds operate, if she had accepted the marriage proposal, it would have just given her enemies more leverage to continue to mess with her.
In the end, her actions didn't just save her father's company or preserve her life, they also saved the community which had been laid siege by bandits.

9/10? Then it’s really nice. I’m going to add it to my list because of this review and the fact that the plots are really tortive.
