The teenage sisters Beth and Vera arrive with their mother, to a country house, somewhat disturbing I would say, quite far from the city, which they inherited due to the recent death of their aunt.

This family's new beginning in their new home is horribly interrupted due to a brutal attack by two disturbing intruders in the middle of the night, from which the family struggles to survive, creating a fierce trauma within them.

After that event, the film continues presenting us with two timelines. One of those timelines shows us the sisters, now adults, trying to leave their lacerating past behind. And the other line returns us to that past, to reveal to us the secrets of the events they experienced.

This film is a true roller coaster, full of unexpected turns, timelines and a constant jump between reality and fantasy that keeps us, as viewers, in suspense, glued to the screen throughout the film.

Las hermanas adolescentes Beth y Vera llegan junto a su madre, a una casa de campo, algo inquietante diría yo, bastante alejada de la ciudad, que heredaron a causa del resiente fallecimiento de su tía.

El nuevo comienzo de esta familia en su nuevo hogar, se ve interrumpido atrozmente debido a un brutal ataque originado por dos perturbadores intrusos a mitad de la noche, del cual, la familia lucha por sobrevivir gestándose en ellas un feroz trauma.

Luego de ese evento, la película continua presentándonos dos líneas temporales. Una de esas líneas temporales nos muestra a las hermanas, ya adultas, intentando dejar atrás su lacerante pasado. Y la otra línea, nos regresa a ese pasado, para ir revelándonos los secretos de los eventos que vivieron.

Esta película es una verdadera montaña rusa, repleta de giros inesperados, líneas de tiempo y un constante salto entre la realidad y la fantasía que hace que nosotros, como espectadores, nos mantengamos en vilo, pegados a la pantalla durante todo el film.

I am studying social psychology, so I will try to do an analysis from that perspective, without first anticipating that

said analysis will contain SPOILERS.

As the film progresses, we will discover that the timelines presented to us are not real, but rather a fantasy in which our protagonist is immersed based on the painful and traumatic experience she has been living with her sister. , and from which he cannot escape.

So, even though we are clear that this is a fictional story, the film manages to perfectly document dissociation as a psychological defense mechanism against trauma.
Beth's mind creates an alternate (fictional) reality that separates or omits events or situations from real life, even emotionally, prioritizing survival.

This event also takes us into questioning subjective reality. Since, if the mind, so complex and powerful, is capable of creating an alternative reality, which is only perceived by that individual, without even questioning the nature of another reality other than the one he or she is experiencing. So, what is real and what is not? The reality in which we find ourselves living. Is it universal reality or is it a subjective reality, as a construction of our mind that is protecting us from something that we are not able to recover? in our conscious?

For all this, Ghostland became one of my favorite films of this genre and I highly recommend it!

Me encuentro estudiando la carrera de psicología social, asique intentaré hacer un análisis desde esa perspectiva, sin antes adelantar que

dicho análisis contendrá SPOILERS.

A medida que transcurre la película, iremos descubriendo que las líneas temporales que se nos presenta, no son reales, sino mas bien, una fantasía en la que nuestra protagonista está sumergida en base a la experiencia dolorosa y traumática que lleva viviendo junto a su hermana, y de la cual no puede escapar.

Entonces, por mas de que tenemos en claro que esta es un historia ficticia, la película logra documentar a la perfección la disociación como mecanismo de defensa psicológica ante el trauma.
La mente de Beth crea una realidad alterna (ficticia) que separa u omite eventos o situaciones de la vida real, incluso en lo emocional, primando la supervivencia.

Este evento, además, nos adentra en el cuestionamiento sobre la realidad subjetiva. Ya que, si la mente, tan compleja y poderosa, es capaz de crear una realidad alternativa, que solo es percibida por ese individuo, sin siquiera poner en duda la naturaleza otra realidad que no sea la que éste se encuentra viviendo. Entonces, ¿Qué es real y qué no lo es?, la realidad en la que nos encontramos viviendo, ¿Es la realidad universal o es una realidad subjetiva, como construcción de nuestra mente que nos está protegiendo de algo que no somos capaces de recuperar en nuestro consciente?

Por todo esto, Ghostland se convirtió en una de mis películas preferías de este genero y la super recomiendo!
