El tiempo no para (Review) ESP/ENG
“El tiempo no para” is a Brazilian telenovela from around 2018, since I saw it I loved it because its plot is very different from what I had seen previously, even in Brazilian telenovelas that are usually different from the rest, so of course I wanted to review it so you can watch it in case you are curious and also have a bit of context.
"El tiempo no para" es una telenovela brasileña de más o menos el 2018, desde que la vi me encantó debido a que su trama es muy diferente a lo que yo había visto previamente, incluso en telenovelas brasileñas que usualmente son diferentes al resto, así que desde luego quise reseñarla para que ustedes puedan verla en caso de que les de curiosidad y además tengan un pco de contexto.
Trama
It is the story of a family in 1886, Don Sabino Machado, his wife and their three daughters, the family was very prosperous, they were practically the owners of half the city, known as Piratininga Valley. At one point, the eldest daughter of the family, Maria Marcolina Machado, who everyone knew as Marocas was bathing in the river, and a young man, Bento, saw her in her underwear, Don Sabino is filled with anger when he learns this and decides to leave with his family on a trip to England to try to silence the rumors, he also takes with him his accountant, the governess of his daughters, who was like his daughter too, and some slaves, what none of them knew was that Bento managed to sneak on the ship to be close to Marocas, but at some point the ship hits an Iceberg and is shipwrecked. Years later, in 2018 an enterprising young man who was surfing on the beach finds a huge block of ice that kept some people inside, but one of them was floating nearby, it was Marocas. In this way all these people waking up from lethargy realize that everything they knew no longer exists, even the name of the small city that is now huge and is called Sao Paulo.
Es la historia de una familia de 1886, Don Sabino Machado, su esposa y sus tres hijas, la familia era muy próspera, prácticamente eran los dueños de media ciudad, conocida como El Valle de Piratininga. En cierto momento, la hija mayor de la familia, María Marcolina Machado, a quien todos conocían como Marocas se estaba bañando en el río, y un joven, Bento, la vio en paños menores, Don Sabino se llena de ira al saber esto y decide irse junto a su familia en un viaje a Inglaterra para tratar de acallar los rumores, además se lleva también a su contador, la institutriz de sus hijas, que era como su hija también, y algunos esclavos, lo que ninguno de ellos sabía era que Bento logró colarse en el barco para estar cerca de Marocas, pero en algún momento el barco choca contra un Iceberg y naufraga. Años después, en el 2018 un joven emprendedor que se encontraba surfeando en la playa encuentra un enorme bloque de hielo que conservaba algunas personas en su interior, pero una de ellas yacía flotando cerca, era Marocas. De esta manera todas estas personas al despertar del letargo se dan cuenta de que todo lo que conocían ya no existe, incluso el nombre de la pequeña ciudad que ahora es enorme y se llama Sao Paulo.
Opinión
I love it because as you could see the story is different, also, as all Brazilian soap operas, humor is guaranteed, there are many hilarious situations that arise in the middle of the chaos, but there is also drama when the characters begin to feel like foreigners in their own country. It is very interesting to see how the characters are adapting to this new era, especially the slaves find it hard to understand that they are now completely free and that they can reach great positions and positions within society.
Me encanta porque como ustedes pudieron ver la historia es diferente, además, tal como todas las telenovelas brasileñas el humor está garantizado, hay muchas situaciones hilarantes que surgen en medio del caos, pero también hay drama cuando los personajes empiezan a sentirse como extranjeros en su propio país. Resulta muy interesante ver como los personajes se van adaptando a esta nueva era, sobre todo los esclavos les cuesta entender que ahora son completamente libres y que además pueden alcanzar grandes posiciones y cargos dentro de la sociedad.
The soundtrack is great, it's full of good vibes and it's very international, that surprised me because usually Brazilians have two types of soundtracks, national and international, the national one always has songs in Portuguese and the international one has songs in Spanish or English, but the soundtrack of this soap opera is very varied, it has songs in Portuguese and English, with hits like Hot Chocolate/You Sexy Thing.
El soundtrack es genial, está lleno de muchas buenas vibras y es muy internacional, eso me sorprendió porque por lo general los brasileños manejan dos tipos de soundtrack, el nacional y el internacional, el nacional siempre tiene canciones en portugués y el internacional canciones en español o inglés, pero el soundtrack de esta telenovela es muy variado, tiene canciones en portugués y en inglés, con éxitos como Hot Chocolate/You Sexy Thing
I also like the fact that they touch on issues such as environmental conservation and climate change, and on the other hand it also makes you reflect on the fact that, although it is true that the world has evolved a lot in every way, there are also things that remain the same, such as corruption and hypocrisy.
También me gusta el hecho de que toquen temas como la conservación del ambiente y el cambio climático, y por otra parte también te hace reflexionar en el hecho de que, si bien es cierto que el mundo ha evolucionado mucho en todos los sentidos, también hay cosas que siguen siendo igual, como la corrupción y la hipocresía.
I found it very interesting to see how the characters were amazed by the technology and the slang of the people of the new era, some were shocked by the clothes worn by others, the cars, the airplanes 😄. On the other hand, the reactions of the protagonist's mother were very hilarious as well as her comments, she was the one who took the longest time to adapt to her new life.
Me resultó interesantísimo ver como los personajes se asombraban ante la tecnología y la jerga de las personas de la nueva era, algunos se escandalizaban en cuanto a la ropa que llevaban los demás, los autos, los aviones 😄. Por otra parte, las reacciones de la madre de la protagonista eran muy hilarante al igual que sus comentarios, fue la que más tiempo tardó en adaptarse a su nueva vida.

La verdad es que es interesantísima, a mitad de novela la trama se pone un poquito floja pero en términos generales es bastante buena, sobre todo graciosa.
