CineTV Contest: Fatal Attraction - A classic of romances that end in murder [ENG/ESP]
Hello everyone in the Cine Tv community! Today I join the contest of the week with this is my participation. This time the topic of the week is about murders, but how about we start with a brief romance? Well, this story begins like this, let's talk about "Fatal Attraction" (better known as "Fatal Attraction"), one of the best suspense films of 1987. Starring Michael Douglas (as Dan) and the incredible, Glenn Close (as Alex) directed by Adrian Lyane, this film is ideal for the time of the week so here I tell you my reasons!
Lawyer Dan Gallagher enjoys a good life in New York City; He has a good job, a good house and a good family (his wife Beth and his daughter Ellen). All that seems to be enough, but one day his family goes on a trip out of town, leaving Dan alone. The thing is that in an informal work meeting he meets Alex Forrest (an editor), who, after sharing a few drinks and words, feels attracted to her, which leads to them ending up spending the night together. They both seem to share the opinion that this meeting is a one-time thing, so everything ends on good terms. What Dan doesn't imagine is that Alex will soon become a bigger problem than just infidelity in his marriage.
¡Hola a todos en la comunidad de Cine Tv! El día de hoy me uno al concurso de la semana con esta que es mi participación. En esta oportunidad el tema de la semana va sobre asesinatos, pero ¿qué tal sí comenzamos con un breve romance? pues está historia comienza así, hablemos de "Atracción Fatal" (mejor conocida cómo "Fatal Attraction"), una de las mejores películas de suspenso del año 1987. Protagonizada por Michael Douglas (cómo Dan) y por la increíble, Glenn Close (cómo Alex) bajo una dirección de Adrian Lyane, esta película resulta ideal para el momento de la semana así que ¡aquí te cuento mis razones!
El abogado Dan Gallagher goza de una buena vida en la ciudad de Nueva York; tiene un buen puesto de trabajo, una buena casa y una buena familia (su esposa Beth y su hija Ellen). Todo eso parece ser suficiente, pero un buen día su familia sale de viaje fuera de la ciudad, dejando a Dan a solas. La cuestión es que en un encuentro informal de trabajo conoce a Alex Forrest (una editora), quién con tras compartir algunos tragos y palabras se siente atraído a ella lo que conlleva a que terminen pasando la noche juntos. Ambos parecen compartir la opinión de que este encuentro es algo de una sola vez, así que todo acaba en buenos términos. Lo que Dan no imagina es que pronto Alex se convertirá en un problema más grande que el de solo una infidelidad en su matrimonio.
The truth is that "the first time" I saw the movie I was very curious about it. What was it about? Love, drama, horror? And I put it in quotes because at that time (2000-something) I was very little and my parents didn't let me see it for obvious reasons. So the little I could see was the scene where Beth (Dan's wife) finds her daughter Ellen's rabbit in a pot full of boiling water. If we're counting, I think the first death was the rabbit (lol) a twist I wasn't expecting. Just kidding. The thing is that for any little girl that scene is quite disturbing, but that didn't stop me from finally watching the movie in its entirety when I reached the age of majority and the truth is that it didn't disappoint me.
At the beginning of the story everything seems to go like any other romance or drama movie, where a man breaks his marriage vows to go after an affair. The transition from that (the romance/drama) to an intense suspense happens naturally at a good pace. We never realize Alex's intentions in not getting Dan's love and possession (as well as how deranged she is). Even at several points Alex seems to be a victim or someone who actually deserves better treatment from Dan. Almost as if she and Beth were on the same position and level (betrayed wives). The thing is, after she shows her true intentions and how willing she is to destroy Dan, it's a little satisfying to see how Beth ends up taking her life after he tried to kill her.
La verdad es que "la primera vez" que ví la película me sentí muy curiosa al respecto ¿sobre qué trataba?, ¿amor, drama, terror?. Y coloco entre comillas porque para ese entonces (2000 y tantos) yo era muy pequeña y mis padres no me dejaban verla por obvias razones. Por lo que lo poco que pude ver fue la escena dónde Beth (la esposa de Dan), encuentra al conejo de su hija Ellen dentro de una olla llena de agua hirviendo. Si estamos contando, creo que la primera muerte fue la del conejo (jajaja) un giro que yo no esperaba. Solo bromeo. La cosa es que para cualquier niña esa escena resulta bastante perturbadora, pero eso no me detuvo de ver por fin la película por completo cuando alcance la edad y la verdad es que no me decepcionó.
Al inicio de la historia todo parece ir cómo cualquier otra película de romance o drama, dónde un hombre rompe sus votos matrimoniales por ir tras una aventura. La transición de eso (el romance/drama) a un intenso suspenso sucede de forma natural a un buen ritmo. Nunca percatamos las intenciones de Alex al no conseguir el amor y la posesión de Dan (a la vez de lo mucho que ella está desquiciada). Incluso en varios momentos Alex parece ser una víctima o alguien que realmente merece un mejor trato por parte de Dan. Casi cómo si ella y Beth estuvieran en la misma posición y nivel (esposas traicionadas). La cuestión es que después de que demuestra sus verdaderas intenciones y cuan dispuesta está a destruir a Dan, es un poco satisfactorio ver cómo Beth termina acabando con su vida luego de que intentara matarla a ella.
I chose this movie because it is a classic of those that mention love, obsession and revenge, things that I dare say was one of the first that inspired others in its style. The unforgettable Alex and her death are challenging because her murderer ended up being murdered. For all these reasons, "Fatal Attraction" is a great film for this mention. Elegí esta película porque es un clásico de esos que mencionan el amor, la obsesión y la venganza, cosas que me atrevo a decir que fue una de las primeras que inspiró a otras más en su estilo. La inolvidable Alex y su muerte son desafiantes pues la asesina terminó siendo asesinada. Por todo ello "Atracción Fatal" es una gran película para esta mencion.
