"A Moment to Remember" by John H. Lee Review: A Memory that Can't Remember
Introduction
Losing someone we love is not easy and what if we lose someone we love not from death and separation but with loss of memory? Alzheimer's is a disease where an individual suffers memory loss. Alzheimer's is commonly attributed to old age and commonly happens at the age between 65 to 80 years old.
The Film's Narrative
The film's story is about a woman whose forgetfulness eventually led to her being diagnosed with a rare type of Alzheimer's disease. At the age of 27, she sought help only to find out that she had a rare type of Alzheimer's disease. And it was only a matter of time before she forgot all the people she knew.
Thoughts
"A Moment to Remember" has a beginning scene that will let you think that some of the scenes were just part of the plot of two people to meet for the first time. The female protagonist's snatching the Coke bottle of the male protagonist and then drinking it is one of the most creative ways to make two people meet in a movie.
I thought that the scene where the female protagonist forgot something was just part of the plot to make people meet. But then it was revealed that the forgetfulness of the female protagonist was the main plot of the movie.
The "you scare me" scene (image below) made me think that the male protagonist is just toying with her and that later on he will fall in love with the female protagonist but I was wrong. I think the "you scare me" dialogue is a clever argument or answer to the question of why he can't commit to the relationship.
"A Moment to Remember" is actually a tear-jerky movie where you can't help but cry about the pain that the characters are going through.
"A Moment to Remember" lacked more happy and funny moments. There are sweet moments but there are only a few. But the lack of happy and funny moments did not take away from the movie because it still ended very well. Both the protagonists have done an amazing job in portraying their characters. The male character has balance in being masculine and vulnerable while the female character is well-portrayed as sweet, loving, and very fragile.
"A Moment to Remember" is brilliant in many aspects. The acting of all the characters are all good. The director even did a hell lot of a good job in portraying this movie as very very sad. It tickles my imagination on how an individual may act while being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
Since I mentioned that the movie lacks sweet moments I think I should include a screenshot of one of the few sweet moments of the movie (see image below).
I find the elevator quite funny even though it wasn't made to be funny the reaction on the face of the female protagonist says it all (see image below). The director could have made it funnier with a corresponding funny music background. But nonetheless, it is still a good scene.
One thing that made me nervous in this movie was when the female protagonist had a short-lived memory of her ex-boyfriend. When it happened I thought the female would then be going to go out with her ex-boyfriend. But I was relieved because it was only short-lived. With that being said, Alzheimer's does have the ability to make the past someone's present.
This movie also opened my eyes to the danger of having Alzheimer's disease and made me realize that missing elderlies actually suffer from Alzheimer's since sometimes they can't remember where they are living.
Conclusion
Just like I said earlier even if this movie lacks some funny scenes and happy scenes it doesn't take away from the movie. This movie is heavy in sad moments but it did make the movie very good (if not great).
The style of the director seems to be very slow and the director seems to like a very dramatic type of movie. The subject of Alzheimer's in this movie sheds a lot of light on me and I learned a lot about Alzheimer's, that it can anyone can suffer from and its consequences once it hits a person.
This movie is by far one of the best K-dramas that I have seen. If you want to cry and know more about the dangers of suffering from Alzheimer's this movie is for you. This is a tear-jerky movie and I am sure that you are going to cry when you watch it.
This movie is heavy on drama and if you like drama this is also for you.

The movies usually teach a lot, because to create it you have to do a lot of research to have a sense of reality, I imagine that the director indago very well about that disease, my grandmother suffered from that, I have been somewhat concerned about that issue, according to the latest research, this is generated by eating starch, which is found in bread, rice and pasta. without anything else to say, thanks for this nice post, I hope to see the movie very soon.
Thank you for checking out my blog. I am also thinking that the people behind this movie did a lot of research about the disease.
