"Clueless" by Amy Heckerling Review: A very teeny movie

Intro

According to my husband, there are a lot of great movies in the 1990s that are now classic and ahead of their time. One movie that my husband recommended to me is "Clueless". He said, that it is a very chic and teeny movie that perfectly fits the teens of the 1990s. So, I was obliged to watch and see if I was going to be impressed.

Narrative

Clueless is about the modern, wealthy, famous, chic, and very teeny life of who lives the life of a teenage girl who is the envy of many girls about her age the movie goes on while Cher narrates her own story. The movie also shows how a typical American girl carries herself and how a wealthy girl dresses when going to school.

Thoughts

The first thing that I noticed in this movie is how fashionable Cher is as her friend Dionne and they look wealthy (see image below).

I am curious if students in the United States of America really doing some negotiations about their grades. I mean, I knew that it could happen but not with everyone seeing that it is happening. This movie also makes me wonder if a student just goes shopping if they get low grades.

It is interesting to know that at least someone (in the movie) thinks that being tardy to school is something that he is not entirely to blame for and that so many people contribute to his tardiness which I disagree. Being tardy is your own doing, if you know there is a chance that you will get why not wake up early and prepare early, that's it.

I am seeing a lot of movies about getting a license in the USA. Are the authorities really that strict when it comes to getting a driver's license in the USA? Another thing that I noticed in this movie is about partying in someone's house. I am curious if this is the norm in the USA. And is a guy just really going to leave a girl in the middle of the road if he doesn't get what he wants?

Then there are those baggy and waist pants that are part of being a teen in any country. I just wonder if this clothing trend originated in the USA or not (see images below).

I found out that there is a debated subject in high school in the USA. Debate is a great subject matter that should also be taught in the schools here in our country. But I do not know if a debate is now part of the school curriculum here in our country.

This movie surprised me because I was not expecting to see a familiar face in Paul Rudd and he is kind of cute even just wearing casual attire the entire movie the first time I knew about Paul Rudd was when he starred in a famous superhero movie.

This movie kind of influences me. The nice narration is one of the best parts of the movie and the story itself of being clueless at the end (after finding out what Cher loves) makes the story nice.

Clueless did great in portraying the possible life of high school students in the USA. The scene featuring the baggy and low-waist pants is on point since it was also the decade when I saw those kinds of clothing here in our country and I think it still existed today (in our country and probably in the USA).

The fashion, specifically on Cher is top notch. I think Clueless has made it a cultural phenomenon that transcends the fashion style of the high school students of the 1990s and I think its influence is not exclusive in high school but in college two where students wear a lot more casual than in high school.

Since the setting of Cluesless is the high school I wonder if all high school in the USA wears casual attire don't they have uniforms?

Christian made me overthink that he would be going to do something bad but then slowly but surely I started to notice that his actions sometimes are of a girl which led me to believe that he was only pretending to be but it was confirmed that he is indeed gay.

The actor portraying Christian actually looks and dresses well which reminds me of my husband when we went out on a date for the first he just dressed so neatly which made me fall for him.

Conclusion

Clueless did a great job of portraying the fashion of the 1990s and I think there is no doubt that it had a huge influence on fashion among students, especially high school and college.

Cher's performance is a performance to remember and there is no doubt that she left a lasting influence. The inclusion of the baggy and low-waist pants is on point and the step-brother and step-sister seem nothing new to families all around the USA.

If you would like to watch a movie that makes you inspired, giggle, and sometimes uncomfortable this movie is for you.

I think I have not seen a movie like this before. The fashion, the narration, the actors and actresses they are all great except for the story which I think could be improved in many ways. It is good that this movie did not make me stressed since it has a very light story. The confusing relationships and the occasional disagreement between the characters surprises me but it is still good and meshed well with the movie as a whole.

I think this movie is a classic. I am sure many high school girls and college girls back then were influenced by this movie. Watching this movie today makes me feel how student life back in the 1990s looked like. So, if you are looking for a cult classic, Clueless is the one.
