Breaking Bad
Ah, breaking bad. If there was ever a series that perfectly explains Jordan Peterson's theory that everyone can become a monster given the right circumstances, then it would be this one. The story of Walter White. How one man took on the entire Meth Amphetamine industry and transformed himself along the way. Beyond all recognition.
He went from a regular participating member of society that wouldn't hurt a fly even if his life depended on it, to a stone cold killer and drug lord. It was quite the transformation and quite the series. And the beauty of it all? You're taken along for the ride. After watching the whole six seasons it's very strange seeing the guy we ended up with compared to what he started off as.
You see Walter is just a regular married guy with a loving wife and son. He's a chemistry school teacher and is regularly disrespected by the kids. Just a regular guy, doing regular work. That is, until he falls down ill will cancer. The treatments are expensive and unaffordable for the salary the both him and his wife have.
That's when Walter has the great idea to become a drug dealer. He has no great aspirations of course, he just wants to earn enough to afford his cancer treatments and live, and boy does he have the skills to make the purest form of meth there ever was. After all he has a family and a son that he doesn't want to leave behind.
Of course Walter is a bit clueless to all this. He's never taken drugs before and he really doesn't have an idea of what the world entails, so to him he can just make a stash of extra pure Meth and sell it. He's a bit clueless to the territories of other people he'll be muscling in on and the business he'll be taking off the street if his product goes on the street because they'll all want his.
That's when he meets Jessie. Jessie is a young lad that flunked out of his Chemistry class in school; he catches up with him in a drug bust as he tags along in his brother in laws police bust. Luckily Jessie is hiding and isn't seen by his brother in law, so Walter hides him.
Obviously Walter is taken in by his new found friend Jessie, who calls himself Chilly D, mainly because he adds a hint of Chile pepper in when he's cooking up Meth. Obviously he's just a no-one and he doesn't really have a clue what he's doing; he's just a kid, but Walt doesn't know this. It's the first time he's had a brush with this life.
Anyway from here we're taken on a complete rollercoaster of emotions, blackmail, theft, extortion, murder, and a whole array of underground antics that you wouldn't expect to see a high school teacher get involved in. But the transformation is very well done and this is well worth the watch.
I highly recommend it!
