Cine Kids - 10 Educational TV Shows For Small Children
Introduction
How is your weekend going so far? I hope it's been great and that you were able to relax and have a fun time with your loved ones! While it's summer holidays for a lot of kids, that doesn't mean we can't keep them educated a bit during the holidays, especially if it means watching something fun as well as educational, right?
I decided to list 10 educational TV shows for small children in this week's Cine Kids post. The recommended age is mentioned after the name of the show, so you can check out if this is suitable for your child. Of course, always do your own research as we don't all fancy the same type of shows and agree on age ratings maybe.
In today's post, I will list 10 shows below from age 2+ to age 7+. If you have an opinion about one of them, please let me know in a comment below.
Sesame Street (2+)
I don't know about your childhood, but I know a lot of people my age have been watching Sesame Street as a child growing up. I remember that I always wanted to see it and it was on TV every day. Today I don't know about this airing on national TV but I found their Youtube channel, which you can find here, it's filled with videos and even live shows for those interested.

Have fun going through the Sesame Street content, recommended for ages 2+.
Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood (3+)
This recommendation actually brings up quite recent memories as my youngest found this one several years ago and it has been a great source of education in our family. Unlike many other shows, I actually like the theme song from Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, it's cute without getting annoying.
I remember when my daughter needed to get a vaccination before she could attend kindergarten, we have been able to use the episode from Daniel Tiger to prep her and it made it a lot easier getting through the appointment. There are loads of episodes I found very useful for her to watch at the time.
I remember watching it on Netflix at the time, but you can also find a Youtube channel filled with episodes here. Below you can find an episode about Friends and Feelings:
Team Umizoomi (3+)
Another show I remember watching on Netflix some years ago is Team Umizoomi. My daughter loved it and I think they had quite a few adventures in these shows. Today you can find Team Umizoomi on Amazon Prime and it seems to be gone from Netflix, sadly.
Above you find the Team Umizoomi theme song in a video from Youtube but they don't seem to have their own channel so unless you have Prime, you can probably not find many episodes online. Suitable for ages 3 and up.
Bubble Guppies (3+)
Bubble Guppies have their own Youtube channel which can be found here. If you visit their channel you can see there are quite a few videos to be found, but they are mixed with Dora the Explorer episodes, which was one of my favorite shows to watch with the youngest as well as the oldest if you want to learn in a fun way, but I shared that one before in another Cine Kids post.
I think the Bubble Guppies are really fun to watch for small children and they have a high cuteness level which you can check in this video below:
Here they learn some things about pets, which is always useful for children.
Earth to Luna (4+)
For ages 4 and up, there's a show called Earth to Luna which was also a favorite show here for a while. I have to admit that I found Luna a bit annoying at times but on the other hand, it was also educational so I let my daughter watch it anyway. The song will stick to your head for sure, I could still sing it along fully, haha that was quite funny how these songs are being remembered forever if the kids watch this for a while.
Here's the Youtube channel Earth to Luna. Luna is passionate about one thing: science! She explains a lot of things in all the different episodes so just find the right ones for your child in the 283 videos available.
My World Kitchen (5+)
This is a show I didn't know until I started digging for educational content but this one seems fun to me. I think my daughter will enjoy this one as well to learn about flavors in a fun way.
This one defo goes on our watchlist for the next weeks, do you know this one already?
Our Planet (6+)
I remember mentioning Our Planet II recently in another Cine Kids, I have to say that we watched part one recently and started part two but didn't finish it yet. All of us enjoyed it so far, amazing footage of animals and nature which I would highly recommend for everyone, not only the kids, but for the whole family.
You can find these on Netflix and I think they're very educational as well as beautiful to watch.
Brainchild (7+)
Another one for the bigger smallest kids, age 7 and up is Brainchild. I admit that we have been watching this last year already and recently saw a few more episodes. They have loads of fun facts they point out as well as show kids stuff such as why we should wash our hands. I bet many kids try to get away with not washing them, this is a great episode to share:

Planet Earth: Blue Planet II (7+)
Blue Planet II is a beautiful BBC Earth documentary which I personally only saw the trailer from. This looks amazing and I think it's another one suitable for the whole family. I already enjoyed the trailer:

Secret Millionaires Club (7+)
I never heard about this one until today but I found it interesting enough to add it to this list. There's nothing wrong with early financial advice, I fully support that considering the fact that I definitely didn't get this myself, and if I would have, I could have definitely made some smarter choices in my early adulthood. I'm going to check this one out in the next few days to see if I can watch this with my daughter:
Warren Buffett's Secret Millionaires Club.
The videos seem quite short so amazing for kids as they don't need a long attention span for them. A fun example below:
I fully agree with this one, teamwork makes the dream work!
