Introduction

Hey there, I hope you had a lovely week so far, mine was quite busy but also productive so I’m not complaining. For this week’s Cine Kids post, I thought I would write something a bit different and think of some movie-themed activities for (you and) your children. I thought it would be fun to think about a few out-of-the-box activities for the summer holidays. I was browsing for ideas and below you can find the five activities that I will definitely do with my daughter in the next weeks. After all, here in Spain, we’re not even halfway through the summer holidays and I have a lot more time left to keep her occupied. I think these activities below will be a lot of fun.

1. DIY Movie Posters

Remember when we talked about the 1988 Peter Pan movie and its unique drawing style? Well, how about we create our own movie posters? Grab some paper, markers, or paint, and let your creativity flow. If you aren’t the real artist yourself, you can ask your parents to print some images or use old magazines for the text using a more scrapbooking style combined with drawing/painting.
You can recreate your favorite movie poster or design a new one for a movie you've just imagined. Who knows, maybe your poster will be a collector's item in the future, just like the Peter Pan ones!

2. Movie Trivia

Next up, let's test our movie knowledge with some trivia. Two weeks ago, I discovered that the 1998 Peter Pan was actually a re-release of the 1953 original. That's the kind of fun fact that could win you a round in our movie trivia game. You can find trivia questions online, or make up your own based on your favorite films. The possibilities are endless when it’s custom-made!

3. Movie-Themed Snacks

Now, what's a movie without some good snacks? Who doesn’t love snacks at the movies? Let's create some movie-themed treats and have some fun in the kitchen.
Some cool examples to make are: 'Frozen' yogurt pops for a Disney marathon, Pixar pastries, or some cool middle earth desserts. I can go on and on with suggestions, you can find tons of these cool suggestions online so you don’t have to feel bored!

4. Movie Soundtrack Dance Party

Remember the catchy tunes from your favorite movies? Why not have a dance party with a playlist of iconic movie soundtracks? Whether it's the adventurous tunes from Indiana Jones or the heartwarming melodies from The Lion King, get ready to bust some moves!
Maybe you can make it a parent-child activity where both of you pick your favorite movie soundtracks, it may bring up some memories and cool stories or give the little ones some new music to listen to. They may even get curious about your favorite movie, followed by a movie night!

5. DIY Movie Theater

Speaking about movie nights, let’s keep the last one simple but add a cool twist to the regular movie nights! How fun would it be to create our own movie theater at home? Grab some blankets, and pillows and make yourself comfortable. The smaller children can even add all their stuffed animals as well as dolls as an audience. You can even make tickets and popcorn holders for a more authentic experience.

Don’t forget to take pictures so these memories last forever. And most of all, have fun! If you end up doing any of these activities with your child, or suggest them to your children, I'd love to hear about your movie-themed adventures.

See you next week!

Definitely a range of ideas for these holidays, sometimes it is difficult for us to get the children off the screens, but it is a great proposal, thank you.

You are right, in this day and age children are already into technology and forget many things that are around them. !LOLZ

absolutely true, it's nothing like when we were young, is it?

So true, I've noticed that it's easier if I give options to choose from. If I don't have any ideas myself or am too tired/busy working etc, she easily gets sucked into the screen. That's why I prepped so many ideas for this summer that I can always spit out a few ideas even if I'm tired :)

You are definitely having too much fun this week. Great idea on the movie snacks. There are some movie/tv themed cookbooks out there that can help provide additional ideas for snacks. :-)

I'm going to look for them online and see if there's a recipe we can pick. Thanks for that idea!

We have to keep the kids busy in these months, lol so it can't be crazy enough I guess!
