Hello and welcome to the 23RD edition of Cine TV Community Spotlight. The Cine TV Spotlight Series has begun in a bid to boost engagement and interaction in the community and showcase the work of deserving authors.

And it’s all simple. At the end of every week, we spotlight works by authors based on the content, originality, style, and word count. It is not a contest but just our way of creating exposure for the works we enjoyed throughout the week and boosting exceptionally written content by our authors. Simply put, give it your best and have fun while at it, and then we showcase your work here.

So, in no particular order, here are the authors spotlighted for this week:

Title: Taxi Driver

When I saw NYC on the title of the week's Contest; the good old neon lights, nighttime square, sparkling, and busy streets came to mind. I was having a glimpse of a movie in my mind but can't remember what it was. Only one image came to my mind, and that's the face of young Robert De Niro. And I remember the monologue style of describing his own life. I had to search for the movie's name as I have watched it many years ago, and it's the great Taxi Driver!

Title: Mufasa, The Lion King

For those of us who are parents, this film leaves great lessons. It addresses topics about parenting, how the lion is the protector but can become more than that, all depending on how he is raised. That guidance is essential from the mother, which is why we see how Mufasa is shaped thanks to the teachings of a lioness who adopts him and teaches him empathy for everyone without distinction, along with a strong sense of collaboration and to exercise authority through respect and not fear.

Title: The Bravest Slave to Have Ever Lived

brave.jpg

In the beginning, I said my heart was racing all the time right? That was how good the main character was at taking risks, very dangerous risks. Cynthia, who starred as Harriet played the role too well that at a point, it felt like I was in the movie. I kept on shouting at her to go back. Not to do what she was doing because it was risky. You know how fictional movies are just less emotionally draining because you know it’s not true? This was no fictional movie so no matter who you are, the main character would get you in your emotions.

Title: Atlas

In this our present time where artificial intelligence has become deeply integrated into every facet of human life humans are gradually losing their ability to do a thing without the help of AI it's almost as if artificial intelligence is now becoming the original intelligence leaving me in wonder of the exact information this movie is trying to pass should we allow AI rule our world how possible is it now to relay on our own human strength after testing the easy life of AI or should we cohabit with Artificial intelligence this movie is a blast

Title: The Last Duel

Without revealing much about her character, I'll say she was bold to speak up at a time when women were seen as mere chattels rather than as persons. Who would believe her? Even her mother-in-law tried to shut her down when she blurted, “The truth does not matter…there is only the power of men.” Yet Marguerite de Carrouges stood tall and maintained her stand as a victim who must be heard and given justice. Even in the present day that we posit as ‘modern’ time, issues like this are everywhere and the resolution is often always the same—silence her.

Title: Ad Vitam

What can be criticized about the movie is that the emotional depth of the story was not captured at any moment. You realize this in the scenes where the pace slows down and family is emphasized, and in those moments, the seemingly small detail stands out too much. Another was that the tension lagged behind the pace of the action. Especially in the moments of kidnapping and rescue, you look for tension but you can't find it.

Title: Prey For The Devil

prey.jpg

I know I said that I was going to try my best to steer clear of alleged horror films but somehow, I found myself watching it to while away the time and it has been nothing less than satirical. Horror films are meant to be frightful and eerie but one could say that I have seen a whole of horror films in my life and frankly, none of them scare me anymore. I just finished watching “Prey for the Devil” because for starters, I was reeled in by the captivating movie title. How does the devil choose its prey? What can one do to avoid being a prey for the devil?

Title: The Menu

menu.png

The film is relevant in this era, when food culture has changed so much. Social media has made dining more about showing off than enjoying a meal. Fine dining is no longer just about food, it’s about status, presentation, and bragging rights. The Menu points out how people care more about appearances than real appreciation for the craft. It also highlights burnout, something many people experience today, especially in industries like hospitality where workers are constantly pushed to their limits.

It take realisation to successfully see horror films. A realization that it's just a movie. At least this works for me sometimes
