My Thoughts About Escaping Twin Flames (Netflix - 2023)

Weekend watch

As always, I was looking for something to watch during the weekend and quickly bumped on a documentary on Netflix called "Escaping twin flames". I remember reading a bit about twin flames and that was actually the last of what I knew about it, that it's your other half somewhere in this world, and it can only be one person. So if you miss out on that love, you will never find it. That's more or less summed up what I read back then. When I read this title "Escaping twin flames" my curiosity was triggered and I wanted to see the trailer to discover if I wanted to watch all episodes.

Intrigued

The trailer got me intrigued. Even in that short clip, I could already see that the main guy behind this business to find your Twin Flame is one with a double agenda. Call it experience dealing with Nutt heads, but after watching the episodes, I turned out right. What I could see from the very start is that this guy loves to control others (including his own partner) and he's desperate for more. I think he could be a genius to start a business connecting people desperate enough to pay a lot of money to find their twin flame as they believe they only have one real partner in life and it's their mission to find the other.

I went in blind

I did not read anything about this couple on forehand, neither did I watch the other documentary that is there (so I read afterwards) or Google them for more information. I decided to watch it and then decide what I think about it. I'm always intrigued watching documentaries of people falling for some sort of scammer or worse: controlling psycho who turns their life upside down. Maybe it's because I dealt with two of them in my life, and am curious to learn more about these other types out there.

A loving couple?

Jeff and Shaleia is the couple this story is about, they believe they are each others twin flame and want to help others finding theirs. According to their words, this is a story of falling in love, finding your true union. Jeff says they have to pursue their mission to be with their twin flame no matter what. I can see how this is a good sell to some people and how people (in the beginning) fell for it. I mean, he seems like a good guy at first and maybe even had good intentions besides also making a business out of this. Maybe this guy really believed that he could pull it off and had the skills to connect all these people that were looking to find their other half. What I certainly believe is that he convinced Shaleia that they could as she doesn't seem like a bad person and probably got sucked in following her other half.

But even in the trailer it's shown that he is controlling towards his own true love; Shaleia and that she's been told to shut up several times when he's speaking. The way he's doing that shows his true colours. I think at some point in time, his wife only appeared in these recordings simply because he told her so and she was not allowed to say much either. If this is the example of true love, and people see how he treats her, I seriously wonder where your mind is if you still pay this guy top dollar for his insights.

Crazier

Not only does he get these people to first buy the book (which is quite a common sale, I guess) but then also make them pay for 2000 dollar packages afterwards, which means clearly he's got some sales skills to say the least. But then he slowly starts to become even crazier by saying that the image of Jesus is his face. Now this is where I started to feel like it's some sort of cult for sure. Surely he doesn't look too good when he starts calling the business a church to avoid paying taxes.

People doubting their gender

This is something that's quite a hot topic and it seems this guy was one of the earlier ones to see if he could make people doubt their gender. He teaches people that either you are feminine or masculine and yes, he tells them straight out if things don't work out that it's because their too masculine or too feminine. If this stuff wouldn't make you doubt whatever he's saying, then I don't know what will. It's really crazy and I don't want to spoil too much of the episodes in this post.

Business model

Think of a guy who sees an opportunity to help others connect with their other half, may it be with good intentions at first, or not. Let's assume it came from a good heart at first, later finding out that people pay crazy money for his advice and slowly showing some sort of God-syndrome, after all he preached he was God somewhere along the line.

He discovers how people follow him blindly, after all they have tens of thousands followers on their accounts and till today (I read this at least) people are still seeking help and paying for his advice. I guess some people will never do their own research and keep believing in fairy tales.
