Three Doses of Jolie

I had a few thoughts concerning writing this. But these movies were nostalgic for me as they are connected to a few incidents growing up. So, my first thought was, “why don’t I re-watch a few favourites of this person?” And then my second thought was, “Why don’t I share some of them with everyone and perhaps know their thoughts on them?”

Because you see, I do not really care about a creative's personality in relation to the person's talent. So even though I know it’s hard to disassociate a person from the character or roles they play, and many times we overlook or shun the talent displayed by an actor because we’re not quite appreciative of the person’s lifestyle, I still think it’s okay to admit when a production is good. She’s not the best but I did enjoy her films. Presenting a few of my favourites where Angelina Jolie featured in.

Salt (2010)

Evelyn Salt is a CIA agent who goes about her job quite normally until her life takes a turn for the worst when she’s accused of strategizing the assassination of the Russian President. In her quest to prove her innocence and save her kidnapped husband, Evelyn Salt realizes that the journey to actualizing this is long and rather gruesome.

I think this is one of my best film production of hers. Obviously, there were a lot of things that you can clearly say are unrealistic owing to the fact that she’s a woman. But I’ve learnt to step away sometimes from what is reality and what is not and simply enjoy a film production the best way I can. Salt is one film that I’ve seen about thrice and I’m sure I’d still love to see again if the opportunity presented itself.

Mr & Mrs Smith (2005)

An upper-middle class couple are bored, live a somewhat mundane existence with their marriage on the brinks of failure. However, there is a secret that looms between them which is, unknowingly to them, they are assassins working for rival agencies. When they are hired unwittingly to execute the same target, the truth comes to limelight. But this is not all that ensues because they are now hired to kill each other.

When it comes to the actual scriptwriting, this film is quite weak. I think the only thing that put it all together for me are the individual acting prowess of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who starred as The Smith couple, and of course, the chemistry they shared which was off the charts. This was my very first film of Angelina Jolie and the marked the moment I began to look forward to more film productions she was featured in. Reason why I grouped it in among my favourites.

The Tourist (2010)

Ah, this one is a bit different. It was grouped in as a thriller but of course, has nothing that distinguishes it to be rightly of the thriller genre apart from the fact that it does have elements of mystery as is expected of an Angelina Jolie film and that it is quite suspenseful. Elise, an agent working with Interpol, is in love with fugitive of the law, wanted by 14 countries, Alexander Pearce, who she travels to Vernice to meet. But Pearce is not only wanted by Interpol but by a gangster who he stole from. However, on her train ride to Venice, Elise meets Frank Tupelo, an American tourist. What ensues from there is an unfolding of not unexpected but still rather thrilling events.

The ending is rather anti-climatic but I guess this is my era of cutting directors some slack. Cause you may have an idea in your head and it's all panning out quite smoothly but then the ending gets all jacked up because you don't know the right way to put finishing touches to it.

Anyway, there you go. Have you seen of this movie productions or is an Angelina Jolie type film a no-no for you?

Hello @cinetv, the movies we watch in life are usually related to our mood and are often an escape from some situations.

Whenever I feel sad or worried I turn to movies as a means of escape, after watching a movie I feel better.

Of the ones you mention I have only seen Mr. and Mrs. Smith, that actress fascinates me, I think we all like Angelina Jolie.

Yesterday I took part in the weekly contest, I don't know if I understood the indication correctly, I hope I did. And I intend to continue every week. 🤗✨️🔥

Movies are to entertain indeed. Why I don’t get most of the review things. Bahahaha. But, I guess we have Critiques to help us do better. But I like Jolie
