The First Season of the Manifest is full of Intrigue, Suspense and Second Opportunities [ENG/ESP]

I didn't know anything about this series but after listening to a friend talk about it I decided to look it up and take a look, especially because many years ago I saw a movie about a passenger plane that traveled through time in a mysterious way, although I don't remember its name Well, I was very young at that time, even so I remember little of it, so as soon as I saw that it had this theme, it caught my attention. So far I have only seen the first season, so I will focus on it.

The story begins with a very interesting first chapter, I like that because we can quickly see the problem or event that is happening, there is no waste of time, the director shows us the heart of the matter and once we see it it is difficult not to get hooked

The series began in 2018, so you've probably already seen it. It all begins with a flight from Jamaica to New York, where the passengers arrive at their destination but without realizing it they did so 5 years later, the world had continued its course but the time of each of them was stopped, or at least like that. The first season shows it.

No conocía nada de esta serie pero después de escuchar a un amigo conversar al respecto decidí buscarla y darle un vistazo, sobre todo porque hace muchos años vi una película de un avión de pasajeros que atravesó el tiempo de forma misteriosa, aunque no recuerdo su nombre pues era muy joven en aquel entonces, aun así le recuerdo poco por lo que nada más ver que tenía dicha temática llamo mi atención. Hasta los momentos he visto solo la primera temporada, así que me enfocare en ella.

La historia comienza con un primer capítulo bastante interesante, eso me gusta porque rápidamente podemos ver el problema o el acontecimiento que está pasando, no hay nada de perdida de tiempo, el director nos muestra el meollo del asunto y una vez lo vemos es difícil no quedar enganchado.

La serie tuvo sus inicios en el año 2018, así que probablemente ya la hayas visto. Todo comienza con un vuelo desde Jamaica hasta New York, donde los pasajeros llegan a su destino pero sin darse cuenta lo hicieron 5 años después, el mundo había seguido su curso pero el tiempo de cada uno de ellos fue detenido, o por lo menos así lo muestra la primera temporada.

From there many interesting events arise, but as I mentioned in the title there are many intrigues and suspense, two elements that are important in any plot, but here it is something main, and I think it is extremely necessary for the proper development of the story. I particularly like dramas and this type of series, the action is present but it is not its main attraction, however it is also necessary.

Each chapter shows us progress in the story, but at the same time leaves more enigmas, something typical of a great work, but leaving that aside it is important how it makes us meditate, can you imagine arriving at your family five years later and that everything has changed because they thought you were dead? It would be something terrible because there are many things that can happen, and here in the series we see some of those things.

The main characters are the Stone family, who suffer in many ways due to what happened, 3 of them were on the flight and lost five years of their lives, but they have not been able to recover it. This is where we see new circumstances, for example a father dealing with his wife's affair with another man in his absence and a daughter who did not grow up with him and now sees him as a stranger, this is just to name one of the circumstances. , but it is too striking and even bizarre to see how life was literally turned “upside down” for all the passengers.

A partir de allí surgen muchos acontecimientos interesantes, pero como mencione en el titulo hay muchas intrigas y suspenso, dos elementos que son importantes en toda trama, pero acá es algo principal, y pienso que es sumamente necesario para el buen desarrollo de la historia. Particularmente me gustan los dramas y este tipo de series, la acción está presente pero no es su mayor atractivo, sin embargo también es necesaria.

Cada capítulo nos va mostrando avances en la historia, pero a sus vez deja más enigmas, algo típico de una gran obra, pero dejando eso de lado es importante como nos hace meditar, ¿te imaginas llegar donde tu familia cinco años después y que todo haya cambiado porque pensaban que habías muerto? Sería algo terrible porque son muchas las cosas que pueden pasar, y acá en la serie vemos algunas de esas cosas.

Los personajes principales son la familia Stone, los cuales sufren de muchas maneras debido a lo acontecido, 3 de ellos tuvieron en el vuelo y perdieron cinco años de su vida, pero no han podido recuperarla. Aquí es donde vemos nuevas circunstancias, por ejemplo un padre que lidia con el amorío de su esposa con otro hombre en su ausencia y una hija que no creció junto a él y ahora lo ve como un extraño, esto solo por nombrar una de las circunstancias, pero es demasiado llamativo y hasta bizarro ver como la vida se le puso literalmente “patas para arriba” a todos los pasajeros.

As in every story there are always villains, and these are people from the government who do not understand how things happened but have suspicions and studies about it, this is where the supernatural part of the plot comes in, and "the calls" are introduced, something like a premonition or internal voice that shows them things that will happen and that they must resolve. I clarify that this may be very fanciful but it is an element that fits the story perfectly, since the calls give it a touch of mystery.

Each of the actors plays their role in an exquisite way, many of them are renowned such as Melissa Roxburg and Josh Dallas, both have a good film career and make this work have an extra quality, since a great movie is not the same. story with good actors than one with lower quality actors, this is something that has been demonstrated in this universe of cinema.

Finally and to conclude, I like the point that the production gives to second chances in life, this is the point of strength of each of the characters, since they think that having returned after five years of absence is a sign that they have been given a new opportunity to help other people. This is something that many people do not have and this aspect is good to meditate on, if you had a second chance to redeem something in your life what would you do? Como en toda historia siempre hay villanos, y estos son personas del gobierno que no entienden cómo sucedieron las cosas pero tienen sospechas y estudios de eso, aquí es donde entra la parte sobrenatural de la trama, y se introducen “las llamadas”, algo como una premonición o voz interna que le muestra cosas que han de suceder y que ellos deben resolver. Aclaro que esto puede ser muy fantasioso pero es un elemento que le queda perfecto a la historia, pues las llamadas le dan su toque de misterio.

Cada uno de los actores interpreta su papel de una manera exquisita, muchos de ellos son de renombre como Melissa Roxburg y Josh Dallas, ambos tienen una buena trayectoria cinematográfica y hacen que esta obra tenga un plus de calidad, pues no es lo mismo una gran historia con buenos actores que una con actores de menor calidad, esto es algo que ha quedado demostrado en este universo del cine.

Por último y para concluir, me gusta el punto que la producción le da a las segundas oportunidades en la vida, esto es el punto de fuerza de cada uno de los personajes, ya que piensan que haber vuelto tras cinco años de ausencia es una señal de que les ha sido dada una nueva oportunidad para ayudar al resto de las personas. Esto es algo que muchas personas no tienen y este aspecto es bueno para meditar, ¿si tuvieras una segunda oportunidad para redimir algo de tu vida que harías?
