The Manifest: Crucial Revelations and Unravelings | Seasons 2 - 3 [ENG/ESP]

Season 1 of The Manifest left a great impression, and now that I have seen the second and third seasons I can say that the first has been the best so far. While my intention is not to dismiss one over the other I couldn't help but give my thoughts on the matter. In these seasons the storyline is maintained, and I decided to review both the second and third seasons together because they are so intertwined in the story.

Here we have several characters that are gaining importance, as well as the production makes an inclusion of some new ones to explain things in the plot. The drama is maintained but it is not the main emphasis, now a focus on the supernatural and the mystical, elements that are not of the total pleasure of the audience but that often tends to be very striking.

I don't particularly like that, however I consider that in this story it is the only way to "explain" or rather reveal the events. It was a risky bet because it is not easy to go from suspense and mystery to the supernatural and mystical, those jumps sometimes go very wrong, but the production did a good job.

"The calls" intensify and now the protagonists and the rest of the passengers of flight 828 move like puppets of a supernatural force that guides them through clues and messages that only they must decipher, not doing so brings dire consequences, making a mistake also, therefore they must comply with them to the letter in order to move forward and survive.

Remember that they have been given a second chance to live and redeem themselves, this becomes clear due to the discoveries made, as the calls show that everyone died due to the storms and although they do not remember it is a fact that is stated with a villain who was not on the plane but after stealing an armored car dies and 82 hours and 9 minutes later comes back to life, but that's not all, but after he comes back to life he loses it again once that same time is fulfilled.

It seems like one enigma after another but that reveals to the passengers on the day of their death, so from then on they only think about how to survive it. This is where Zeke's character comes in, as he is an apparent sign of the possible solution. The only thing I don't like is how they use biblical verses, because they misinterpret them all, and added to that they make a kind of religious syncretism where "everything is true" and everything is related or connected, pantheism.

But anyway, this is not a religious scrutiny, but a science fiction film and in that sense they have made a work worth seeing because the production executed a work of audiovisual quality, an entertaining story that has a lot to offer. Now continuing with the plot the calls are expanded, and now it is not only the Stone family who has them, although they are the protagonists, but as I indicated above there are new characters, even evil ones who have their calls.

The Baylor brothers and their friend Kory to give an example, 3 characters who like Zeke are introduced to reveal more to the passengers. This arc was very well developed and taking an Egyptian myth about redemption these characters have their chance but what they do not know is that it is a group thing, if one of them does not execute well their calls will harm the other two. And in this way our protagonists intuit that it will be their trial, a group one and not an individual one.

This is the plot that encompasses the second and third season, there are other events that also have their weight but I won't add them in my review since I can't reveal everything either, so I encourage you to watch it if you haven't, maybe you won't like so much the themes that are shown but the story hooks and what to say about the actors, they do too, so leaving aside all those super natural elements, the mix of beliefs and everything else, this series has proven to be a job well done, and that alone is enough to give it a look. El manifiesto: Revelaciones y desenlaces cruciales | Temporada 2 y 3

La temporada 1 del manifiesto dejo un gran impresión, y ahora que he visto la segunda y tercera temporada puedo decir que la primera ha sido la mejor hasta los momentos. Si bien mi intención no es desestimar una por encima de otra no podía dejar de plasmar mis pensamientos al respecto. En estas temporadas se mantiene el hilo argumental, y decidí reseñar tanto la segunda como la tercera juntas debido a que se entrelazan mucho en la historia.

Acá tenemos varios personajes que van cobrando importancia, así como también la producción hace una inclusión de algunos nuevos para explicar cosas en la trama. El drama se mantiene pero no es el énfasis principal, ahora un enfoque hacia lo sobrenatural y lo mistico, elementos que no son del total agrado de la audiencia pero que muchas veces suele ser muy llamativo.

Particularmente no me gusta mucho eso, sin embargo considero que en esta historia es la única forma de “explicar” o mejor dicho revelar los acontecimientos. Fue una apuesta arriesgada porque no es fácil pasar del suspenso y misterio hacia lo sobrenatural y mistico, esos saltos en ocasiones salen muy mal, pero la producción hizo un buen trabajo.

“Las llamadas” se intensifican y ahora los protagonistas y el resto de los pasajeros del vuelo 828 se mueven como títeres de una fuerza sobrenatural que los guía a través de pistas y mensajes que solo ellos deben descifrar, el no hacerlo trae consecuencias nefastas, el equivocarse también, por lo tanto deben cumplirlas al pie de la letra para poder seguir adelante y sobrevivir.

Recordemos que les ha sido dada una segunda oportunidad para vivir y redimirse, esto queda claro debido a los descubrimientos hechos, pues las llamadas le muestran que todos murieron debido a las tormentas y aunque no lo recuerdan es un hecho que se afirma con un villano que no estuvo en el avión pero después de robar un blindado muere y 82 horas con 9 minutos después vuelve a vivir, pero eso no es todo, sino que luego de que vuelve a la vida la pierde nuevamente una vez se cumple ese mismo tiempo.

Parece un enigma tras otro pero eso les revela a los pasajeros el día de su muerte, así que a partir de ese entonces solo piensan en como sobrevivir a eso. Aquí es donde el personaje de Zeke cobra peso, ya que él es una muestra aparente de la posible solución. Aunque la serie se adentra a lo mistico no deja de ser entretenida, lo único que no me gusta es como usan los versículos bíblicos, pues los malinterpretan todos, y sumado a eso hacen una especie de sincretismo religioso donde “todo es verdad” y todo está relacionado o conectado, panteísmo.

Pero en fin, esto no es un escrutinio religioso, sino una película de ciencia ficción y en ese sentido han hecho una obra que vale la pena ver porque la producción ejecuto un trabajo de calidad audiovisual, una historia entretenida que tiene mucho que ofrecer. Ahora bien siguiendo con la trama las llamadas se amplían, y ahora no solo es la familia Stone quien las tiene, aunque son los protagonistas, pero como indique anteriormente hay nuevos personajes, incluso malignos que tienen sus llamadas.

Los hermanos Baylor y su amigo Kory por dar un ejemplo, 3 personajes que al igual que Zeke son introducidos para revelar más a los pasajeros. Este arco estuvo muy bien desarrollado y tomando un mito egipcio sobre la redención estos personajes tienen su oportunidad pero lo que no saben es que es algo grupal, si uno de ellos no ejecuta bien sus llamadas perjudicara a los otros dos. Y de esta forma nuestros protagonistas intuyen que será su juicio, uno grupal y no individual.

Esta es la trama que engloba la segunda y tercera temporada, hay otros eventos que también tienen su peso pero no los agregare en mi reseña puesto que tampoco puedo revelar todo, así que te animo a verla si no lo has hecho, quizás no te guste tanto los temas que se muestran pero la historia engancha y que decir de los actores, también lo hacen, así que dejando de lado todos esos elementos súper naturales, la mezcla de creencias y todo lo demás, esta serie ha demostrado ser un trabajo bien hecho, y solo eso es suficiente para darle un vistazo.
