The world behind international espionage in the purest Metal Gear Solid style [ENG/ESP]

Iris is a Korean series that has many interesting elements. When I saw it in the Netflix catalog it quickly caught my attention, but once I started watching it my mind went back years, specifically to the Play Station 1, to the Metal Gear Solid title. If you have not played this video game I recommend you do so, it is like being inside a virtual world and embodying the skin of the main character, Solid Snake. As it happens in this series, as we are watching it is very easy to get into the characters and the plot in question.

It all starts with two friends who are recruited by a super secret agency whose purpose is national security, once there their lives become more and more intertwined but everything changes after an important mission. Before I go on I must say that this series has a lot of drama and also one of the best first introductory chapters. Usually the first chapter is one of the most important since if it doesn't connect with the audience it is very difficult to move forward, however here that doesn't happen as the first episode is extremely exciting and quickly gets us into what the story has to offer.

The context of the plot takes place in Korea and represents more than anything else the political conflict between "both Koreas" the South and the North, there we can see how they use political and military tactics to destabilize the other. This is something common as every divided kingdom fights each other, a lesson we can learn from history. Even so all this is secondary, the main thing lies in the relationships and the environment of the protagonists that for reasons of cinematic destiny do not stop suffering.

Iris es una serie coreana que tiene muchos elementos interesantes. Cuando la vi en el catálogo de Netflix rápidamente llamo mi atención, pero una vez comencé a verla mi mente se trasladó años atrás, específicamente a la Play Station 1, al título de Metal Gear Solid. Si no has jugado este video juego te recomiendo hacerlo, es como estar dentro de un mundo virtual y encarnar la piel del personaje principal, Solid Snake. Tal cual sucede en esta serie, a medida que la vamos viendo es muy fácil adentrarse con los personajes y la trama en cuestión.

Todo comienza con dos amigos que son reclutados por una agencia súper secreta que tiene como fin la seguridad nacional, una vez allí sus vidas se entrelazan más y más pero todo cambia después de una misión importante. Antes de seguir debo decir que esta serie tiene mucho drama y también uno de los primeros mejores capítulos introductorios. Por lo general el primer capítulo es uno de los más importantes ya que si no conecta con la audiencia es muy difícil avanzar, sin embargo aquí no sucede eso pues el primer episodio es sumamente emocionante y nos adentra rápidamente en lo que ofrece la historia.

El contexto de la trama se da en Corea y representa más que todo el conflicto político entre “ambas coreas” la del sur y la del norte, allí podemos ver como usan tácticas políticas y militares para desestabilizar a la otra. Esto es algo común pues todo reino dividido lucha entre si una enseñanza que podemos aprender de la historia. Aun así todo esto es secundario, lo principal radica en las relaciones y el entorno de los protagonistas que por razones del destino cinematográfico no paran de sufrir.

So far I have seen 10 chapters, but they are enough to write this review or at least the first part of it. The world of Iris is addictive and especially if you like the world of war and political conflicts. I think the directors made a very good series because they add a great drama to each of the chapters, so it is very difficult not to get hooked with it.

The world of the international agency is something very dark indeed, that's why I like how this series clarifies it a little, many times we think they are just privileged people for the positions they hold but the truth of it all is not so, here you can visualize how is the life of an agent, their struggles, their ideals and above all their preparation, they are practically killing machines, objects or instruments of those in power to achieve their goals.

The theme of the action as most of the Asian uses a bit of cunning to create impossible escapes, however here they stage it very well, in fact they leave a touch of intrigue because there are many scenes that fill it with suspense and the escape is not shown as such just happens and we do not notice, but it is still very attractive.

Finally and to conclude, in Iris there is also a love story, that is why I say that it is a very complete series, not everything is violence although there is, but other elements are explored that together result in a very complex and praiseworthy plot. Each of the actors perform their work with great quality, from the protagonists to the fillers, all have good participation and play their roles with great professionalism. If you haven't seen it I recommend it, and if you already did leave me your impressions in the comments, but it's yes, until chapter 10 because I haven't finished watching it.

Hasta los momentos he visto 10 capítulos, pero son suficientes como para escribir esta reseña o por lo menos la primera parte de ella. El mundo de Iris es adictivo y sobre todo si te gusta el mundo bélico y los conflictos políticos. Pienso que los directores hicieron una muy buena serie debido a que le suman un gran drama a cada uno de los capítulos, por lo que es muy difícil no enganchar con ella.

El mundo de la agencia internacional es algo muy oscuro en realidad, por eso me gusta como esta serie lo aclara un poco, muchas veces pensamos que son solo personas privilegiadas por los puestos que ocupan pero la verdad de todo no es tan así, aquí se puede visualizar como es la vida de un agente, sus luchas, sus ideales y sobretodo su preparación, son prácticamente máquinas de matar, objetos o instrumentos de quienes están en el poder para lograr sus objetivos.

El tema de la acción como la mayoría de lo asiático usa un poco de astucia para crear escapes imposibles, sin embargo aquí lo escenifican muy bien, de hecho dejan un toque a la intriga porque hay muchas escenas que la llenan de suspenso y el escape no se muestra como tal simplemente ocurre y no nos percatamos, pero aun así es muy atractivo.

Por último y para concluir, en Iris también hay una historia de amor, por eso digo que es una serie muy completa, no todo es violencia aunque si la hay, pero se exploran otros elemento que unido dan como resultado una trama bastante compleja y digna de elogiar. Cada uno de los actores ejecutan su trabajo con mucha calidad, desde los protagonistas hasta los de relleno, todos tienen buena participación e interpretan sus papeles con mucho profesionalismo.
