A Stage of Twilight - The Story of Old Age and the Time of Farewell
A Stage of Twilight, which presents the themes of aging, death and farewell to loved ones, has a touching story about the last days of human life. Facing “death”, one of the most realities of human life, and making to-do lists to make sure that loved ones don't feel the lack of it in their lives, brings scenes full of drama.
Having to face the realities that none of us can escape while watching the movie was, in my opinion, the most real but also the saddest part of the movie. Most of the time we don't care about the fact that the fast flowing time carries us all to the most real moments of life, but when we think about it, we are quite negligent in preparing ourselves for “that moment” and we prefer to think that it will never happen. The movie reminds us and makes us feel this very much.
The story of the movie begins with Cora and Barry, a long-married couple, learning that Barry is terminally ill. After this shocking news, the story tends to accept the situation for a while and then focuses on the moment of death and the aftermath.
The movie may seem boring to most people in general, but I can say that it was quite interesting with its focus on the realities of life and the processes of confrontation and acceptance. Personally, I like to watch movies like this, which do not tire the mind and reflect the events that we can encounter at any time in the ordinary flow of life.
At the same time the film focuses on a life that is about to end, it also presents lives that are just beginning and have many years ahead of them. The fact that these different stories are presented in the same setting and within the same plot leaves a pleasant aftertaste. In terms of story progression and story transitions, the movie was quite successful.
The most touching scenes of the movie were the moments of two old people holding on to life and the process of separating from each other. The process of acceptance between holding on to life and saying goodbye was a moment-by-moment indication of the change in the characters' strong stances. Although I didn't like the final scenes, I must admit that I liked the harmony of the couple and the way they processed and reflected the tragic event that happened to them.
The sincere and heartfelt behavior of the characters is extraordinarily integrated with the story of the film. I recommend you to watch A Stage of Twilight, a movie that deals with the end of life and the difficulties of old age with emotional storms. However, it is worth considering whether you like this genre or not.
Thank you for being here and reading. Take care and goodbye!
I think you're right. We are not as prepared for this inevitable aspect of life as we'd like to think. There's this sense of sorrow and grudging acceptance that oozes even from the review. I'm sure this film is backed with vital lessons and I'm glad you got to share it with us. Lovely review.🌺
thanks :)
