Bold Pilot; Champion for us – The story of a racehorse and its jockey
Inspired by a true story, Bold Pilot focuses on the career and love life of a character. If I say that the movie is a biography, I won’t be misleading anyone. Of course, what makes it valuable is that it is based on real life.
It is inevitable for the audience to look for more reality in productions based on real life, because we know that what is unfolding in front of us is not a fantasy or fictional world, but real life.
The movie title Bold Pilot is actually the name of a racehorse that is very much present in the movie. This racehorse, which also gives its name to the movie, blows like the wind on the race tracks with its jockey. The main story of the movie focuses on the career and love life of the horse’s jockey. Just like on the racetracks, the challenging and complex career and love story of the jockey is presented to the audience as faithfully as possible.
Engin Koç successfully plays the character of Halis Karataş, the jockey of Bold Pilot. I remembered the names of both the horse and the jockey from the tracks they raced on, but I had no idea about the background of the life of a jockey whose races I watched. In this respect, I can say that I watched the movie more carefully because it presented the details of the life of a character I did not know.
Apart from what is known, the movie contains a love story that is close to impossible. Normally I get bored easily with biographies, but I never got bored with Bold Pilot because it includes not only the life of a person but also the life of the horse he jockeyed.
In terms of genre, I would say that the movie is out of the ordinary. Even though the story flow was sometimes stagnant, it was generally fluid. The performances of the actors were not bad, and the scenes with the race horse are the most valuable moments of the movie.
I recommend you to watch the movie Bold Pilot. The movie is above average and it reminds you of the existence of emotions while having a fun time. Best of all, it reminds us of our humanity and the value of our health in a few scenes.

While watching this beautiful Turkish film, I think you can have a preliminary idea about people and cultures you don’t know. I guess this is one of the most beautiful side effects of cinema. I remember this from a couple of Chilean and Argentinian movies I have seen before.
