Il treno dei bambini

Il treno dei bambini is a touching story about the difficult socio-economic times in post-World War II Italy. Focusing on the impact of the post-war devastation on children and families, the film shows the adoption of children from families struggling to live below the starvation line by better-off families.

When you focus on the story, you have the chance to empathize and better understand the difficulties of the period, and you witness that the war is not actually over, but that its impact continues for many years.

Through the eyes of an 8-year-old boy (Peppino), the movie tells the difficulties of life after the war and gives us the chance to observe how effective a social project can be, and I can say that the movie has an effective and touching story that brings tears to the eyes and reveals the sacrifices made in the hope of a better life.

The train journey during the realization of the social project is a physical and emotional journey. The fact that families have to send their children away at those moments makes the drama of the film incredibly heavy and multiplies the impact of the touching story even more.

In fact, I wouldn't be misleading if I said that the story of the movie is not the story of a few families or a city, but the story of a nation starting over.

The character of Peppino deeply affects you while watching the movie. It was a great pleasure to watch the character who finds himself in the struggle for existence at a young age. I can say that the main character of the story, which flows backwards from the beginning of the movie, lives the whole process together with the audience and reaches the point of understanding. I don't know if the story makes more sense when it is integrated with its causes and consequences, or if I overloaded it with too much meaning.

At the same time, I must add that I admired the heartbreaking way of showing the desperation and love of a mother. Some movies can be called drama-laden stories, but what makes the story very touching is the integration of the characters with the emotions they reflect. In this respect, the movie is definitely worth seeing.

Successfully reflecting the chaotic atmosphere of the period and the relatively calm and hopeful landscapes of northern Italy, the film skillfully combines the story with emotional tones. I can say that the costumes and designs that reflect the realism of the time take the audience on a journey through time.

I recommend you to watch Il treno dei bambini, which reminds us that even in the shadow of war, the bonds of love, hope and humanity can be strengthened more than ever. I must admit that I liked it very much as both a historical drama and a process of rebirth from the ashes of a nation, as well as showing the maximum contribution that social projects can make.

Thank you for being here and for reading, take care and goodbye!
