Moments of Suspense and Horror with a Self-Updating Story - Little Bone Lodge
I have seen dozens of movies in which escaped criminals terrorize the owners of a house in the middle of nowhere, where they have to take refuge for different reasons. The common storyline is almost the same. Criminals break into a house in the woods or on a farm, take the owners hostage, satisfy their own hunger, rape the daughters of the house and then the revenge of the owners begins!
Little Bone Lodge, a #British movie released this year, has a similar story, but it doesn't work exactly like that. The fact that things don't work the same way was reason enough to watch the movie and I did.
The story progresses slowly in the beginning, but as the story deepens, the tension and horror levels rise. Just when you think you are nearing the end, the story updates itself again and your viewing pleasure is multiplied. The movie deserves more than one ending and with the ending scene, your mind briefly wonders if it's really over.
I am sure that you will not get bored during the duration of the movie, where the criminal and the victim often switch places, because the personal life stories are very well connected in the flow of the story and complement the true story, which remains a mystery until a certain point in the movie. While in the personal life stories there are misfortunes and drama like being in the wrong place at the wrong time, in the true story there is as much crime and suspense as possible.
The actress I liked the most and thought she carried the movie was Joely Richardson as Mama. Her instinct to protect her adopted family and the way she punished those she believed would harm her family was simply horrifying. I think she deserves respect despite everything, but I hope I never meet that kind of person!
I have always been interested in primitive life in a desolate environment. If I evaluate the movie from this point of view, the area where the farmhouse is located is a wonderful place. I think the choice of location fits the script of the movie very well. First, the small stories and their combination and then the big story are very well reflected on the screen. As the pieces come together, the answers to every question in the mind fall into place.
Although I can't say that the movie is perfect in general, I can say that it is worth watching. You feel the tension and fear very much. The mystical atmosphere of the chosen farmhouse is very harmonious with the end of the story and seems to be favorable for the beginning of the new story. As one story ends, the seeds of a new one are sown. I hope you like it and I wish you a good watch in advance.
