The film Nr. 24, which tells the true story of Norwegian resistance fighter Gunnar Sønsteby during World War II, was one of the notable productions in terms of war history.

We know that every country tries to create heroes in cinema through the wars they participated in, and although such attempts are remarkable as elements that provide originality in the story of the film, I can't say that I personally liked it.

For this reason alone, even if the story is based on real life, I tend to watch it as if it were fiction and thus enjoy the movie more. The reason is that in such productions, the story is presented from the point of view of one side and even if it is based on real life, there are question marks about how much it reflects reality.

But I should add right away that Nr. 24 does not create this kind of hero, but rather prepares a ground where the person who is seen as the hero is questioned by the audience with counter-questions.

In this respect, I can easily say that the movie differs from other examples. In fact, what I liked the most about the movie was the fact that the events that happened years ago were examined in the form of a conversation between the character who lived through the events and the next generations.

The film begins on April 9, 1940, when Nazi Germany invades Norway. 22-year-old Gunnar Sønsteby (played by Sjur Vatne Brean), a young accountant, decides to join the resistance from the first day of the invasion.

While the main theme of the movie is the character's participation in the resistance and the acts of sabotage and assassination that he commits immediately afterwards, years later, his account of what happened at a conference becomes the main theme, and the second part I mentioned becomes a historical discussion with the questioning of the audience.

And let me state once again that it was these interrogations that I enjoyed the most.

The definition of freedom and the price one has to pay for it may vary for many of us. We may try to reach the same conclusion in different ways with different ideas, but in the end, we only understand the value of freedom better when we lose it, and we may resort to all kinds of means to get back what we have lost.

Nr. 24 causes us to make similar inquiries in our minds, both with its story and the scenes in which it proceeds in a question-and-answer format. Even if we disagree with the movie's conclusion at some moments, I can say that it provides the viewer with perspectives that allow us to come to our own conclusions.

The cast, which successfully reflects the post-occupation determination and spirit of resistance, contributes significantly to the success of the film, but Sjur Vatne Brean is the most successful in portraying the emotional depth and drama of the war. While emphasizing historical realism with the character she portrays, she portrays a very convincing and convincing view with her strong narration.

I recommend you to watch Nr. 24, which emotionally depicts the price that must be paid for freedom, is a production that I think should not be missed, especially by those who love history and war genres. While the scenes of sabotage, espionage and assassination offer extra tension, the sense of curiosity is successfully triggered in the moments when it progresses as a conversation.

Thank you for being here and reading. Take care and goodbye!
