Road House (2024)

I finally watched the remake of Road House (2024), which was released in the last week of March and has been on the agenda for a while. My first words about the movie will be about how accurate it is to call it a remake, because the movie and the story is not a remake, but a copy-paste similarity.

After 35 years, I don't find it strange that a remake with similarities was made. Road House (1989) was one of the cult movies of its time and managed to create a classic audience. I am sure that some of the viewers, including myself, watch the old movie once in a while. With such an audience in hand, I think it is quite natural for the producers to turn this into an opportunity and I think it is also an opportunity for the audience.

I'm going to say let's leave the old version and move on to the new production, but I don't know how successful I'm going to be in this because except for a few details, the movie is almost the same as the old movie. But I promise that I will try to stay with the new version as much as possible.

Dalton (played by Jake Gyllenhaal), a former UFC fighter turned bar bouncer, is a shadow of the character from the first movie. The fact that his behavior is almost identical is a disadvantage for the movie because it's a copy-paste.

If the few differences created in Road House (2024) compared to the first movie had been created on the character; I might be talking about different things right now. Although the new production is stronger and the story flow is more exciting than the old production, I cannot say the same for the character. I think the director of the movie was more effective than Jake Gyllenhaal, who gives life to the character of Dalton. I wish a few positive touches to the movie had been given to the character!

As for the story and plot of the movie, I definitely enjoyed watching it more than the first movie. The story is less of a drama and more of an action thriller. The increase in action scenes is quite appropriate for the story of the movie. In the first movie, from a bar bouncer point of view, the action scenes were insufficient.

What I liked most about the new movie was the way the comedy genre was handled in the movie. Especially the scenes centered on the character of Knox (played by Conor McGregor) were perfect in terms of action and entertaining in terms of comedy. The fact that the former UFC champion had expected action scenes but unexpected comedy scenes contributed greatly to the success of the movie.

If the success of Knox's character had been achieved in Dalton's character, I could say that the movie is perfect and far ahead of the first movie, but the inadequacy of the main character and the lack of new excitement will still keep the first movie among the unforgettable classics.

If you watch Road House (2024) as an independent movie, I can guarantee that you will enjoy it. Those who watched the first movie will like it, but they will realize the character that I am against and they will think that the first movie is still one step ahead. You should definitely watch the movie that promises a little action, a little smile and a little trip down memory lane.

Thank you for being here and reading. I wish everyone who will watch the movie a good time. I hope you enjoy it and have a good time. Goodbye!
