Tomorrow When the War Began
The 2010 Australian production Tomorrow When the War Began is a movie that I liked the editing, but I can't say the same thing about the actors and the shooting.
The journey of a group of young people to spend a quiet, calm and fun time in an isolated environment started as an adventure in the middle of nature. From this point of view, I liked the beginning of the movie and the beginning of the story, but in the following minutes, there were moments when I liked the editing, the acting was very stilted and the stage shots looked amateurish.
The actors' inability to immerse themselves in their roles, or their over-immersion and unnecessary heroism, did not add any value to the movie and made the movie feel extremely contrived.
The exaggerations, which do not even exist in productions where a few people come together to save the world, are present in almost every scene in the attempt of a group of young people to save their town from invasion. The main characters of the movie are extremely intelligent, but the army, which is portrayed as the enemy troops, is made to look extremely stupid.
Even in a fantasy world or a universe created based on fiction, when you tell such a story, you will quickly bore the audience because it will make it less acceptable. For myself, I can say that after the first 15 minutes of the movie, I got bored and went to sleep mode.
In many ways I didn't like Tomorrow When the War Began. The only thing I liked about the movie was the landscape scenes right at the beginning. If it was a movie about young people camping in the woods, I'm sure it would have a better story, but I can't say that about the actors, because I don't think the acting performances will change positively when the story changes.
The story of the movie is about a local event and local heroism might have an impact on the people living there. I don't know that for sure, but even so, the storytelling could have been better and the heroism could have been presented differently.
Overall, Tomorrow When the War Began is below average. A lot of effort was put into the movie, but in return for the effort, too many gaps were created in the story. The worst part is that there is no integrity in the story. I don't recommend watching the movie, I think it would be better to spend time on much more successful productions.
Thank you for being here and reading. I hope I was able to help you get an idea about the movie. See you in my next article, goodbye!
Keep up the good work. 👏🎵
