Blood Sisters ~ My Review

Hi movie lovers! So I'm back to my custom of watching movies repeatedly. Is that even surprising?
Well, the movie I’ll be reviewing is Blood Sisters. It's a Netflix Nigerian film. I first watched it in 2022 when it first aired, and I enjoyed every bit of it.
Scrolling through Facebook reels last week, I came across a scene from the movie. It was the scene where Kemi and Sarah were dancing at the engagement party after they had already unalived Kola who was also Sarah’s fiancé.
So I moved once again to my regular download site, downloaded it, and watched it again for the second time.

THE PLOT
So basically, the movie, Blood Sisters, is giving thriller, drama, and straight-up chaotic energy. Like it’s a rollercoaster of chaos. There is Sarah and Kemi who are literally two ride-or-die besties. Their lives practically go off the rails after Sarah’s engagement turns into a full-blown nightmare. We get to know that Sarah was suffering from domestic abuse from her fiancé, Kola, who is also rich, charming and as well toxic. He is a serial abuser who physically abused his past girlfriends and Sarah too. Sarah who is tired of the abuses, decides to call off the engagement and this angers Kola so much. He strangles her and Kemi in a moment of self-defense, shoots him in order to save Sarah her friend. When things go south at the wedding, the girls end up becoming fugitives as they are on the run, with blood on their hands trying to escape the wrath of the law and Kola’s family.

The whole plot is giving “What would you do if your bestie accidentally committed murder?” and the answer being “Cover it up and flee the city!”

MY REVIEW
Okay so for starters, Blood Sisters got me clutching my chest in one second and the next second I was screaming: “These Girls should Run!!”
Honestly, I'm not a fan of movies that involve bloodshed. So the part or scene where Kola’s body was being dismembered was my worst moment in the movie. But all the same, the movie was epic.
I can't say less about the vibes; it was so immaculate.
The chaos was premium. Like until then very end.
The fashion was my highlight. The whole cast absolutely slayed.
Talking about Kemi. She's that loud, loyal and not-afraid-to-literally-get-her-hands-dirty kind of girl.
Her whole energy in the movie was giving Big Scorpio energy. She literally carried the whole show on her head.

Meanwhile, Sarah is like the soft girl who is caught in a hard world. And together they made an iconic team.

Now let's get to the highlights of this movie. The first is the wedding that turned into a funeral. Now you understand the true definition of chaotic right?
Secondly is Kola’s whole family. Honestly, that's not a family tree, but a whole toxic forest! Because tell me why a mother sees no wrong in how her son abuses women physically. His whole family cares less about the victims and by that, they further contributed to the cycle of violence.

The cinematography was so on point.
And let’s not even talk about that twist at the end. Like I really had to go back skipping parts of the movie to see what I had missed. So epic!
The whole cast knew their assignments and gave it their best. Great acting skills.

The messages I think the movie was trying to pass across were how bad parenting shapes our society on a very large scale and how loyal friends stick to each other even in the worst moments.

I would gladly give this movie an 8.5/10 and would recommend it to anyone who loves drama, suspense and movies portraying survival in a corrupt world.

I leave you with the movie trailer.
