Cage has been acting for a very long time and somehow still finds a way to surprise his fans. He made his acting debut in 1981 in a television pilot. He then landed a role in the 1982 teenage comedy Fast Times at Ridgemont High. From then on, he has had countless memorable roles in film. There have been some not-so-good movies he's been in, but somehow I always find a way to enjoy his character no matter how good or bad the movie is.
One of his latest films Dream Scenario is a prime example of why Nic Cage is such a talented actor. It's an A24 film, so you know it's going to be good, but also somewhat weird.
In Dream Scenario, Cage is a hapless family man who finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams. When his nighttime appearances take a nightmarish turn, he is forced to navigate his newfound stardom.
There are so many funny moments in this movie, but there is one particular instance that stood out to me the most.
Allow me to set up this amazing sequence of events with a brief description of what was going on in the movie at the time.
Most people see Cage in their dreams and all he is doing is standing there. He becomes annoyed with the fact that everyone perceives him as such a boring person. Finally, there is a girl who claims to have dreams where there is more going on than him just standing there. She says that although he just stands there at first, he eventually seduces her and then takes advantage of her sexually. In her dreams, Cage is a beast who takes what he wants and she loves it. You can tell she is infatuated with Cage despite just meeting him in real life for the first time. She convinces Cage to go home with her and recreate her dream in real life.
Now I will let you watch this scene and we will discuss a bit more after.
When I say that Cage's character in Dream Scenario is awkward, I mean it. This guy somehow managed to be so nervous that he farted not once, but twice as this girl was trying to have sex with him. The second fart was accompanied by him blowing his load in his pants. Cage farts and cums at the same time and somehow it was one of the funniest scenes I've watched in a film ever. I laughed out loud so fucking hard when this happened and it was amazing.
The movie overall is pretty awesome, but this specific scene I will never in my life forget. It's yet another gem to add to the massive history of Nicolas Cage's impressive acting career. Nicolas Cage just turned 60 to start 2024. I say we have at least 10 more years of him blessing us with new movies. The day he stops acting is going to be a sad one. Maybe then we will all agree that Nicolas Cage is one of the greatest actors of all time.

Cage has proven that he can surprise us time and time again, even though there have been some films that have not scored well like Jiu Jitsu, I always find something interesting in his performance, regardless of the overall quality of the film.
Jiu Jitsu is one of the few Cage films that I have not watched. The reviews just did not make it seem promising. I'm sure even a bad film like that has a few iconic Cage moments.
True, also I dont believe that much in online scores anymore, best example is Rottentomatoes how sometimes there is a huge gap between critics and audience rating, I just go and watch it, see for myself if at least its worth burning an hour on the movie
Cage only just turning 60 is such a surprise to me, probably because he disappeared a bit. He reminds me a bit of Willis and Travolta in terms of the hits and misses he finds himself in recently.

For me that scene is a clear reference to the expectations we can have at any time in our lives or something simpler, dreams do not represent reality, they are just that, dreams.
I laughed a lot with that scene, this movie has very uncomfortable moments and they all work because of Nicolas Cage's great performance.
Dream Scenario is one of the best movies of 2023.
