Good execution vs. bad plot | My opinion for The Creator movie [ENG/SPA]

I have just seen The Creator, which in Latin America is known as Resistance, I think it is one of the most anticipated films of the year for Sci-Fi lovers, among which I confess to be, I have never hidden how much I like this kind of films because they are very risky proposals, inventing a whole plot or imaginary and fictional universe may please many or it may be a total failure.

Recién he visto The Creator que en Latinoamérica se conoce como Resistencia, creo que es una de las películas mas esperadas del año para los amantes de Sci-Fi, entre los cuales confieso encontrarme, nunca he ocultado lo mucho que me gustan este tipo de películas porque son propuestas muy arriesgadas, inventar toda una trama o universo imaginario y ficticio puede que le agrade a muchos o sea un total fracaso.

Getting caught up in a trailer is a risky proposition, it seems that we never learn the lesson, these video clips very well edited can cause an incredible hype, now added to what social networks offer in small clips where only the most lavish is shown creates in the viewer the desire to see the movie, without knowing that what we are shown is all the action it offers and the rest is pure boredom, so here I leave the trailer so you understand where my words go.

Dejarse llevar por un trailer es una propuesta arriesgada, parece que nunca aprendemos la lección, estos clips de video muy bien editados pueden originar un hype increíble, ahora sumado a lo que las redes sociales ofrecen en pequeños clips donde solo se muestra lo mas fastuoso crea en el espectador las ansias de ver la película, sin saber que lo que se nos muestra es toda la acción que ofrece y el resto es puro aburrimiento, por eso aca les dejo el trailer para que entiendan por donde van mis palabras.

After seeing such a trailer and knowing that the director of the film is Gareth Edwards, the same who directed Rogue One, I immediately assumed that humanity after the war finally reached space and on earth reached a cyberpunk lifestyle, we see a kind of androids or humanoids, what appear to be spaceships and futuristic cities, with a kind of resistance to a central power, but nothing further was from what is its central argument.

Luego de ver semejante trailer y saber que el director de la película es Gareth Edwards el mismo que dirigió Rogue One, de inmediato supuse que la humanidad luego de la guerra alcanzó finalmente el espacio y en la tierra alcanzó un estilo de vida cyberpunk, se observan una especie de androides o humanoides, lo que aparentan ser naves espaciales y ciudades futuristas, con una especie de resistencia al poder, pero nada mas lejos estaba de lo que es su argumento central.

The Creator could be said to be another film of the genre where technology exceeds man's control and turns against him. The events that the film tells are in a post-war era where machines launched nuclear bombs against humanity, and after many years the world is divided between those who are against AIs and those who use them to their advantage.

The Creator se podría decir que es una película mas del género donde la tecnología rebasa el control del hombre y se vuelve en su contra. Los acontecimientos que relata la película son en una época de posguerra donde las máquinas lanzaron bombas nucleares contra la humanidad, y luego de muchos años el mundo se encuentra dividido entre quienes están en contra de las IA y quienes las usan a su favor.

The title of the publication came up while I was talking with my son after finishing the movie, it left us with a bittersweet feeling because we were very surprised by its CGI, but at the same time we were disappointed by the plot gaps it left. Many things happened and we did not understand what the origin was, several times we stopped the film to together analyze and review if we overlooked something, we investigated if it was based on a book that told its story, but that was not the case.

El título de la publicación surgió mientras conversaba con mi hijo luego de finalizar la película, nos dejó un sentimiento agridulce porque nos sorprendió mucho su cgi, pero a la vez nos decepcionamos por los vacíos argumentales que dejaba. Muchas cosas ocurrían y no entendíamos cuál era el origen, varias veces paramos la película para juntos analizar y repasar si algo pasamos por alto, investigamos si se basaba en un libro que contara su historia, pero no fue el caso.

There comes a moment where the story is barely progressing where you realize that what could have been a good plot twist with a surprise well into the story, from the beginning it is clearly evident that it will happen, it is somewhat disappointing that it is so basic, not to mention The performances, which for me personally left a lot to be desired, are very flat and unemotional, even when selling the idea that AI is now provided with them.

Llega un momento donde apenas avanza la historia donde te das cuenta que lo que pudo ser un buen giro de tuerca con sorpresa para bien avanzada la historia, desde el principio se nota claramente que ocurrirá, es algo decepcionante que sea tan básico, y ni hablar de las actuaciones, que personalmente para mi dejaron mucho que desear, son muy planas y carentes de emociones, incluso cuando se vende la idea de que la IA está ahora provista de ellas.

Many are defending the film as a lesson for the industry, of what can be done with a "modest" budget of 80 million US dollars, teah its effects are very good, but you can notice the cuts in certain scenes of budget in clothing and setting, since most of it was surely allocated to CGI.

Muchos están defendiendo la película como una lección para la industria, de lo que se puede llegar hacer con un presupuesto "modesto" de 80 millones de dólares americanos, pero vaya que si sus efectos son muy buenos, pero puedes notar en ciertas escenas los recortes es indumentaria y ambientación, ya que seguro la mayor parte se destinó al CGI.

One of the things that has caught the attention of the fans of this film who defend it assiduously, they use the argument that it was filmed with the Sony FX3 camera that costs less than $4000 USD that they could have bought or rented for less than $100 a day. They point out that it was quite a feat to have a film of such good quality, but personally I think it is marred by the weakness of its script. If you have already seen it, what do you think?

Una de las cosas que mas ha llamado la atención de los fanáticos de esta película que la defiende asiduamente, usando el argumento de que fue filmada con la cámara Sony FX3 que tiene un costo de menos de 4000$ USD que bien pudieron comprar o rentar por menos de 100$ al dia. Señalan que fue toda una hazaña para tener una película de tan buena calidad, pero personalmente creo que lo empaña lo débil de su guiño, si ya la vistes ¿tu que opinas?
