Lugar Adecuado, Momento Justo - Right Place, Right Time |HIMYM REVIEW| (Esp-Eng)

Sabes que has visto una buena serie cuando al terminarla quedas con una especie de vacío existencial porque no sabes que harás ahora (aparte de querer verla una vez más y comentarla con cualquiera que también la haya visto), este fue mi caso con “Como conocí a tu madre”.

You know you've seen a good series when when you finish it you are left with a kind of existential void because you don't know what you will do next (apart from wanting to watch it one more time and comment on it with anyone who has also seen it), this was my case with "How I Met Your Mother".

Como conocí a tu madre es una sitcom que fue estrenada en 2005 y finalizada en 2014, ahora bien, ¿Por qué hacer un review de una serie que finalizó hace 10 años? Porque si no la conocías, como era mi caso, es momento de que lo hagas. Y si la viste de refilón, podrías darle otra oportunidad.

How I Met Your Mother is a sitcom that premiered in 2005 and ended in 2014, now why do a review of a series that ended 10 years ago? Because if you didn't know it, as was my case, it's time for you to do it. And if you saw it as a glimpse, you could give it another chance.

La serie se nos vende como una historia donde Ted (un romántico empedernido) va en busca de conocer al amor de su vida, la madre de sus hijos, y como todo lo que le pasa lo lleva un poco más cerca de ella.

The series is sold to us as a story where Ted (a hopeless romantic) goes on a quest to meet the love of his life, the mother of his children, and how everything that happens to him brings him a little closer to her.

Pero en realidad no se centra totalmente en esto, ya que gira también alrededor del grupo de amigos de Ted, sus diferentes vidas, situaciones y problemas.

But it doesn't really focus entirely on this, as it also revolves around Ted's group of friends, their different lives, situations and problems.

Lo cual me parece uno de los puntos fuertes de la historia, como se contrastan las diferentes realidades de los personajes, y nos enseña que los tiempos de cada persona son diferentes, un claro ejemplo es ver a Marshall y Lily (los mejores amigos de Ted) sentar cabeza, establecerse y pensar en tener bebés, mientras el resto del grupo podía estar desempleado o teniendo éxito en su trabajo, en medio de un rompimiento doloroso o disfrutando desenfrenadamente de su soltería.

Which seems to me one of the strong points of the story, how the different realities of the characters are contrasted, and teaches us that everyone's times are different, a clear example is seeing Marshall and Lily (Ted's best friends) settling down, settling down and thinking about having babies, while the rest of the group could be unemployed or succeeding in their jobs, in the middle of a painful breakup or wildly enjoying their bachelorhood.

Lo cual nos lleva a una de las lecciones que nos deja la serie; es importante disfrutar el viaje, la vida no solo se trata de llegar al destino, sino de disfrutar del viaje, ir a nuestro ritmo y ser nosotros mismos.

Which brings us to one of the lessons that the series leaves us; it is important to enjoy the journey, life is not only about reaching the destination, but to enjoy the journey, go at our own pace and be ourselves.

Otro punto fuerte de la serie es el tener personajes realistas, ninguno era perfecto, y podíamos identificarnos con sus buenas o malas decisiones, que quizás en cierto punto podía llegar a molestar que no tomaban las decisiones que nosotros como público elegiríamos viendo todo el panorama, pero esa es exactamente la chispa del programa, tener personajes imperfectos, que erraban y dudaban como humanos, y también se redimían como humanos.

Another strong point of the series is to have realistic characters, none of them were perfect, and we could identify with their good or bad decisions, which perhaps at some point could become annoying that they did not make the decisions that we as an audience would choose seeing the whole picture, but that is exactly the spark of the show, having imperfect characters, who erred and doubted as humans, and also redeemed themselves as humans.

Nos embarcamos en una aventura de 9 temporadas donde vemos el crecimiento de los personajes; los presentan ante nosotros como veinteañeros tratando de buscar su lugar en el mundo, alcanzar sus diferentes sueños y sobreviviendo a sus vidas actuales, poco a poco los vemos madurar, levantarse y caer un par de veces, pero al final la perseverancia y la esperanza de un futuro mejor les juega a su favor dándoles exactamente lo que necesitaban.

We embark on a 9 season adventure where we see the growth of the characters; they are presented before us as twenty-somethings trying to find their place in the world, achieving their different dreams and surviving their current lives, little by little we see them maturing, getting up and falling a couple of times, but in the end perseverance and hope for a better future plays in their favor giving them exactly what they needed.

Una de las lecciones más especiales para mi (que soy un poco como Ted en ese sentido) es la existencia del amor verdadero, la serie nos enseña que este existe y vale pena esperarlo, porque está en algún lugar tratando de llegar a nosotros. De ahí la frase "Lugar adecuado, momento justo", habla un poco del destino, de como estar en un lugar y tiempo en específico nos pone indirectamente en el camino de la persona indicada, y que cuando al fin estemos con él/ella todo habrá valido completamente la pena.

One of the most special lessons for me (being a bit like Ted in that sense) is the existence of true love, the series teaches us that it exists and is worth waiting for, because it is somewhere trying to reach us. Hence the phrase "Right place, right time", it talks a bit about destiny, about how being in a specific place and time puts us indirectly in the way of the right person, and that when we are finally with him/her everything will have been completely worth it.

Como conocí a tú madre es una serie que te hará reír, llorar y reflexionar sobre la vida. Nos enseña que la vida es un viaje lleno de sorpresas, y que lo más importante es disfrutar el camino junto a las personas que queremos.

How I Met Your Mother is a series that will make you laugh, cry and reflect on life. It teaches us that life is a journey full of surprises, and that the most important thing is to enjoy the journey with the people we love.

Si te encuentras buscando tú lugar en el mundo, el amor, el éxito o quizás simplemente estés disfrutando tú vida y buscas algo para ver en tus ratos libres, tal vez este sea el lugar y momento adecuados para que conozcas esta sitcom que seguro se volverá una de tus favoritas.
