Private detective Nick Bali, an American expatriate in Greece, agrees to investigate the supposedly accidental death of Leo Vardakis, a young tycoon, on the island of Crete. The victim's sister-in-law does not believe the official report.

Esta película cumple con todos los requisitos. El detective con problemas de bebida y muchos remordimientos. La Femme Fatale que lo busca para que resuelva un crimen. Solo que no estamos en alguna ciudad sucia de USA, sino en Grecia y siempre es de día. Los escenarios no son los clásicos callejones, sino las costa y las islas de la ciudad. Los escenarios son hermosos y también lo es la cinematografía. Tiene un estilo elegante esta peli. Nuestro personaje principal se mueve entre gente de una clase social superior, de manera que debe camuflarse.

This movie ticks all the boxes. The detective with a drinking problem and a lot of regrets. The femme fatale who seeks him out to solve a crime. Except we're not in some dirty US city, but in Greece and it's always daytime. The settings are not the classic alleys, but the coast and islands of the city. The settings are beautiful and so is the cinematography. This movie has an elegant style. Our main character moves among people of a higher social class, so he has to camouflage himself.

Una de las cosas que mas disfrute fueron los diálogos internos del detective. Sus pensamientos al describir las situaciones en las que se encontraba. De vez en cuando era hasta poético, elevando la peli un poquito cada vez. Sus ideas era elocuentes y en ningún momento me pareció ostentoso. El guionista supo acompañar muy bien la estética con los diálogos. Todos eran insinuantes.

One of the things I enjoyed the most was the detective's internal dialogues. His thoughts when describing the situations he found himself in. At times it was even poetic, elevating the film a little bit each time. His ideas were eloquent and at no point did it seem ostentatious to me. The scriptwriter knew how to match the aesthetics with the dialogues very well. They were all suggestive.

Tanto el caso como la vida del detective se van descubriendo poco y nos enteramos de que hace nuestro protagonista en Grecia y por supuesto, quienes son los culpables del crimen. Todo a buen ritmo. La conclusion se siente natural y necesaria. Yo no estoy del todo de acuerdo con la forma en que nuestro protagonista se retiro del caso, pero ustedes sean los jueces. Podrían estar de acuerdo, después de todo, esta película nos da la oportunidad de elegir al mostrarnos las perspectivas de los personajes.

Both the case and the detective's life are gradually revealed, and we find out what our protagonist is doing in Greece and, of course, who the culprits of the crime are. All at a good pace. The conclusion feels natural and necessary. I don't fully agree with the way our protagonist withdrew from the case, but you be the judge. You might agree, after all, this movie gives us the opportunity to choose by showing us the perspectives of the characters.

Bien lograda. Bien actuada. Bien escrita. Que bien que Joseph Gordon-Levitt regresó. Y a hacer un detective provado luego de casi 20 años de haberlo hecho en "Brick". Esta película se va directo a mi lista de favoritas del genero policíaco. Pueden verla en Prime Video. Para mi fue un 10/10.

Well done. Well acted. Well written. It's great that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is back. And to play a detective after almost 20 years of having done so in "Brick." This movie goes straight to my list of favorites in the police genre. You can watch it on Prime Video. For me it was a 10/10.
