BALLERINA - Movie Review

For some obvious reasons, I have been finding myself watch lots of movies these days even with my busy schedules. I hope you are not expecting me to tell you the reasons right? Like I said, the reasons are obvious and I think it's something you can easily guess but if you can't, please be patient since I might end up spilling it sooner or later.

And so I decided to watch the movie Ballerina yesterday. Seriously if you haven't watched this movie yet, the only question I can ask is, why not? I mean, do you not like action? Do you not like seeing people who deserve to be punished get what they deserve?

I know there's a lot of great stuff that comes out of Korea and the Philippines, and I don't really talk about that on here, but this one gave me some pulse, and honestly, I just had to stay glued to my television all through because this movie is an action packed top notch movie.

Ballerina is a 2023 Korean movie that's streaming on Netflix. Now, this movie is not to be confused with the John Wick spinoff ballerina that is set to be released in June 2024 and that is if everything goes as planned. This Ballerina is all about a lady who sets out on a mission to get some sweet, sweet revenge after the death of her close friend.

This movie revolved around a female ex bodyguard who got contacted by an old high school friend. Now she reached out to her bodyguard friend, asking her for help. But unfortunately, on getting to her friend's house, she found out that her friend had seemingly taken her own life, but she left her with a note to please get revenge for her.

As we all know, revenge is a dish best served cold and this is one cold blooded lady. This movie concept may not be the most original kind of concept, but trust me, it's definitely a blood-drenched action showcase with a unique style and a vibe that's going to grab your attention really quick.

This movie deals with some sensitive subject matter that has some disturbing scenes that's dealing with violence and sexual violence against women. So if that kind of imagery is triggering for you, I can totally understand that, but trust me, vengeance is served on a silver platter in this movie.

It is a typical revenge for a friend kind of film, but there are some decent action scenes, some very well choreograph fight scenes and gun play that would definitely make you smile. I loved the acting so much because it is so good and very believable if I might add. Ballerina is heartfelt, it is emotional, and it is adrenaline fueled and believe me, it kept me locked and engaged the whole time I was watching it.

There are some strong languages, sexual situations, a lot of violence, sex, blood and gore. Ballerina is coming in at an hour and 33 minutes and streams over on Netflix should you like to check it out for yourself.
