The Haunting Of Hill House (Supernatural horror) (ENG/ESP)

Despite being a fan of suspense I don't usually watch series of this genre, I'm more of a fan of looking for a good movie to watch on a Friday night. However, it caught my attention to know that this series focused on Hill House, which originally comes from the book titled "The Haunting of Hill House" written by Shirley Jackson in 1959, which has been selected for several film adaptations, I remember seeing "The Haunting" from 1999 and if you also saw it the same it is worth watching this 2018 series because despite being the same house it is a different story.

A pesar de ser fanática del suspenso no suelo ver series de este género, soy más de buscar una buena película para ver un viernes en la noche. Sin embargo, me llamó la atención saber que está serie se centraba en Hill House, que proviene originalmente del libro titulado "La Maldición de Hill House" escrito por Shirley Jackson en 1959, la cual ha sido seleccionada para varias adaptaciones cinematográficas, recuerdo haber visto "La Maldición" de 1999 y si tu también la viste igual vale la pena que veas esta serie del año 2018 porque a pesar de ser la misma casa es una historia diferente.

In the first chapter we see the Crain family, Hugh Crain and his wife Olivia Crain have just moved into the Hill House along with their children Steven, Shirley, Theodora or Theo, and twins Luke and Eleanor or Nell. The youngest of the siblings (Nell) often has episodes of sleep paralysis in which she sees "the Bent-Neck Lady", however she is not the only one being tormented at the Hill House, several strange occurrences happen that cause them to leave the house.

¿De qué trata?

En el primer capítulo vemos a la familia Crain, Hugh Crain y su esposa Olivia Crain se acaban de mudar a la casa Hill House junto a sus hijos Steven, Shirley, Theodora o Theo, y los gemelos Luke y Eleanor o Nell. La más pequeña de los hermanos (Nell) suele tener episodios de parálisis del sueño en las cuales ve a "la mujer del cuello", sin embargo ella no es la única que está siendo atormentada en la casa Hill House, varios extraños sucesos ocurren que los hacen salir de la casa.

The series moves us back and forth in the timeline, when the siblings are adults we can see how each one has lived their lives, Luke is an addict, Steven is a writer, Shirley and Theo live together in a funeral home, and Nell is alone in a room trying to communicate with her family and unable to do so she returns to Hill House where something very strange happens....

La serie nos mueve hacía delante y hacia atrás en la línea del tiempo, cuando los hermanos son adultos podemos ver como cada uno ha vivido su vida, luke es adicto, Steven es escrito, Shirley y Theo viven juntas en una funeraria, y a Nell la vemos sola en una habitación asustada tratando de comunicarse con su familia y al no poder hacerlo ella regresa a la casa Hill House donde ocurre algo muy extraño…

It is one of my favorite suspense and horror series, I had already known about Hill House because of the movie... but the twist they give to the plot gives a quite positive change, it has good characters and although they move you from one place to another in the timeline you don't get lost, as for the ending I personally think it is the best it could have, I read that there were other versions prepared to end the series and they certainly chose the best one.

Es una de mis series favoritas de suspenso y horror, ya había sabía de la casa Hill House debido a la película… pero el giro que le dan a la trama da un cambio bastante positivo, tiene buenos personajes y aunque te mueven de un lugar a otro en la línea del tiempo no te pierdes, en cuanto el final personalmente pienso que es el mejor que pudo tener, leí que habían otras versiones preparadas para terminar la serie y sin duda escogieron la mejor.

Anyway, it has 10 chapters and you feel like they are all over pretty quickly, so if you like supernatural horror don't hesitate to watch it, and if that wasn't enough it also has a great cast that includes actresses like Victoria Pedretti who you should know if you saw You and Carla Gugino who appeared in Spy Kids, Earthquake: The San Andreas Fault and Gerald's Game.

En fin, tiene 10 capítulos y sientes que todos se terminan bastante rápido, así que si te gusta el horror sobrenatural no dudes en verla, y por si fuera poco también tiene un gran cast que incluye a actrices como Victoria Pedretti a quien deben conocer si vieron You y Carla Gugino quien apareció en Spy Kids, Terremoto: La falla de San Andreas y El Juego de Gerald.
