US (2019) REVIEW [ENG/ESP]

Hace poco un amigo me recomendó esta película llamada ¨Us¨, por sus gustos ya tenía más o menos una idea de lo que me esperaba. El día de ayer la vi y ahora vengo a contarles que tal me pareció

Recently a friend of mine recommended me this movie called ¨Us¨, because of his tastes I already had more or less an idea of what to expect. Yesterday I saw it and now I come to tell you what I thought of it.

Adelaide es una niña que está de vacaciones con su familia, se aleja un momento de su padre y se pierde en una sala de espejos, al salir, Adelaide ve algo que hace que jamás vuelva a ser la misma. Años más tarde, siendo ya una adulto con esposo e hijos regresa a esta casa junto a la playa en la que vivía en su infancia, y tal vez regresar fue mala idea, porque ahora los traumas de su pasado volverán por ella.

Adelaide is a girl who is on vacation with her family, she wanders away from her father for a moment and gets lost in a hall of mirrors, when she comes out, Adelaide sees something that makes her never be the same again. Years later, as an adult with a husband and children, she returns to this house by the beach where she lived in her childhood, and maybe going back was a bad idea, because now the traumas of her past will come back for her.

Es una película de suspenso, personalmente pienso que la trama se pudo manejar en un tiempo un poco más corto, pero la tensión es el punto mayor de este tipo de películas. No creo que sea necesario conocer el termino doppelganger para ver esta película, pero si esta bueno que lo sepan.

Los doppelgangers básicamente son dobles de las personas, algunos los conocen como ¨Gemelos malvados¨ y otros dicen que solo son fantasmas o espectros.

Además de esto, la película está llena de Simbolismos, personas vestidas de rojo, conejos y otros elementos que te ponen a pensar. En cuanto a la historia como tal, es interesante, es una de esas cosas que te pone a pensar ¨Si la tecnología sigue avanzando como ahora en unos años esta idea no sería tan loca¨

Por otro lado, todos los personajes me agradaron bastante, en especial el hijo menor de la protagonista.

It's a thriller, personally I think the plot could have been handled in a shorter time, but the tension is the main point of this kind of movies. I don't think it's necessary to know the term doppelganger to see this movie, but it's good to know it.

The doppelgangers are basically doubles of people, some people know them as ¨Evil Twins¨ and others say they are just ghosts or specters.

Besides this, the movie is full of symbolism, people dressed in red, rabbits and other elements that make you think. As for the story as such, it is interesting, it is one of those things that makes you think ¨If technology continues to advance as it is now in a few years this idea would not be so crazy¨.

On the other hand, I liked all the characters, especially the protagonist's youngest son.

Como dije, si pienso que la película es un poco lenta, pero es bastante entretenida, todos los integrantes de la familia me impresionaron, son más fuertes de lo que pensé, por otro lado no me sorprendió mucho que la familia vecina no durara mucho. La película tiene varios mensajes ocultos (especialmente sociales) que para llegar a ellos tienes que profundizar un poco

Por ejemplo, a mi me dejo pensando ¿Qué necesidad tenemos de controlar al ser humano y hasta qué punto podemos llegar para hacerlo? Todo lo de los dobles me recordó un poco a los muñecos vudú, o al menos al concepto principal que se conoce de ellos (el tema vudú es muy extenso). Y sin duda, el plot twist del final con el cambio de la protagonista me impacto bastante.

As I said, yes I think the movie is a bit slow, but it is quite entertaining, all the family members impressed me, they are stronger than I thought, on the other hand I was not very surprised that the neighboring family did not last long. The movie has several hidden messages (especially social) that to get to them you have to dig a little deeper.

For example, it left me wondering what need do we have to control human beings and how far can we go to do it? The whole doubles thing reminded me a bit of voodoo dolls, or at least the main concept known about them (the voodoo theme is very extensive). And without a doubt, the plot twist at the end with the change of the protagonist had quite an impact on me.

Si recomendaría esta película a una persona que busque ver en las películas algo más allá, y también a alguien que sea fanático de la tensión y el suspenso. Sin embargo, pienso que con verla una vez es más que suficiente.

Yes I would recommend this movie to a person who is looking to see something more out there in movies, and also to someone who is a fan of tension and suspense. However, I think watching it once is more than enough.
